The Patsies just lost the pick it wasn't granted to anyone else right? So it's like 2 first rounders? YAY if so.

"Technically" the first round only has 31 picks...so for salary slotting he will be the first pick in the second round..but yes the 32 pick is normally a first rounder.

Other than slotting purposes, I don't get all the hoopla over the "technically a 1st rounder" talk. It's one pick earlier than it would have been, that's all. It's not as if, the player we will pick, has a better chance of succeeding, because even though it says round 2, he would have been round 1 at #32 every other year. Let's just be happy we have #1 overall, two in the second round, and #1 of the 3rd round (I believe). That's a tight group of picks at the beginning.

please yell it louder so the agents find out and charge us that much more for the last pick in the first round instead of charging us for the first pick in the second round. Every dollar counts

Technically speaking, we have 2 1sts, 2 2nds and a 3rd.

It looks good viewing it that way.

That is the exact opposite of "technically speaking". Technically, meaning an exact measure, we have One first, two seconds, and a third. But with the slotting, we essentially, meaning as basic similarity, have two firsts, two seconds. Our current fourth, which you have slotted as a third due to the Patriots loosing a draft pick can not be considered a third because after compensation picks, that fourth will be occur later than the 127th overall pick.

Sorry to rant, that's just a pet peeve.

Well thank you for the lesson, its semantics to me.

Technically, the 32nd pick is normally a first round pick. An exact measure is, we have the 32nd pick, which being normally a first round pick, means to me that we technically have a first round pick. But, whatever floats your boat dude, I get your point. In reality, the Patriots pick is gone, every other pick should be moved up one slot if they were doing this correctly, because every round should have the same number of picks, then it would satisfy your whole technically/essentially dilema.

You are correct about the 4th rounder though, although I haven't heard if there will actually be any 3rd round compensatory picks this year, have you?
I know they don't give out many of those.

wait a minute......so if all our picks are moved up a round because the Patriots lost a pick because of spygate....

THAT MEANS WE DON'T HAVE A 7TH ROUND PICK!!!!!! WE'RE GETTING SCREWED!!!!!

I was gonna post the same thing, guess it's a pet peeve of mine as well. We "technically" have a first and two second rounders. We practically have two first rounders.
