So Who is Still Upset that we didn't trade for Orton??????

Yea its pretty interesting to see all the fans wearing rose colored glasses in reverse these days. The front office can not do anything right no matter what move they make even when they passed on a looser in the case of Orton. Every move is critiized.
The pick used on Daniel Thomas has been killed to death for example and yet this last game he played in showed what he can do. I know that one game does not make a player but that pick is looking better.
Really I agree that we are currently missing the leadership to turn this thing around but I disagree we do not have enough talent and our issues revolve mainly around the draft and free agency. For example our defense that finished 6th in the NFL last year with almost the very same cast of players is now ranked dead last. Thats just players not playing to their talent level not that the talent level not being there. We have the same coach same scheme etc. I truly believe a tweak in the offensive line by shifting some of our current personel around a seam tight end and this team should be able to win 3 out of the 4 games they are playing this year. I hate to see us rebuild another 3 years. Hopefully we can bring in a coach that will kick these clowns in the butt get them motivated and build off this base. That IMO is the real answer more than cleaning house and hring a new GM.

Still would have liked to trade for orton at the right price. lets not act like henne has been awesome this year, he had one bad game one good game. So if people think Orton is a loser, I guess a guy with a worse starting record like Henne is a bigger loser. Qb's get way too much blame for wins and losses. Yes the qb is the most important man on the field but wins are a team stat and he only controls so much.

Competition for Henne was a must. Matt Moore provided that slightly but Orton would have been even better. That is for the right price( no higher than a 3). Looking back on it now I dont even care. Henne is playing solid and Im not ready to complain about him until he proves differently.

Henne need to show his new leadership abilities and take over the offense if dumb calls continue. Dont allow your football team to go down like they do. STEP UP Henne and follow JT. Next time we run a draw on 1st down with Bush and follow it up with another Bush draw, CHANGE the play and take a shot to Marshall deep!!!!!!! STEP UP!

This week its on the players! The leaders spoke and now must back it up.

I still say "no" to giving compensation for QB's. Never wanted the guy...

If we are a middle of the pack team at the end of the year, I COULD be convinced to trade for a refreshed Carson Palmer, but that is for another time.

That's not the point. Orton has been in the league for 7-8 yrs and is unlikely to be anything more than what he is. Henne has already shown some improvement over last yr and I don't believe Orton could have beat him out in TC.
Orton reportedly also wanted Kolb type money and would have cost (at the least) a 3rd rd pick. It would have been a meaningless trade and would have done nothing to improve the team.
The problems with this team are with the coaching. There is poor organizational structure, which was revealed this weak by JT (sloppy practices) is a direct indictment of the coaching staff.

I believe that if the front office mistakenly traded for Orton, we would have been no better/worse off than we are right now! In Denver they are screaming for Tebow to start and would have loved to trade Orton for a number one or number 2 draft pick.........Though this teams problems are QB related (amongst other things), I don't believe that Orton was the answer. What do you think??????

I'm not bothered at all. Orton would have been a band aid. Sparano and Ireland are the biggest problems in Miami these days.

Nobody should be upset, we gave up no draft picks which is good. The new regime will have a few QBs among other positions to choose from. so I'm hopeful for the future.

Order of crow for me please.

Wow!! That's how you man up.

Need some more of this on here, instead of a diatribe of meaningless garbage to desperately hang on to a shred of dignity in support of the thousands of posts they put up before the season bashing Henne and hailing Orton.

Kudos brother...:thanks:

:bobdole:

How is Kyle Orton a "spark"? These past two games have shown just how painfully average and pedestrian he is.

Well whether u like orton or not he was bad first week and played a prety damn good game last week with 2 tds and 0 int in leading his team to victory.
i have never hated henne although he played really bad last season and thats a fact. Never was mad we didnt trade for him esp since it seems the team has regressed.
His best receiver was out this week and he helps eric decker put up awesome numbers this week. His recivers were eddie royal and eric decker this week. Imagine chad henne last week without brandon marshall.
In retrospect im glad trade fell through because we are probably worse than I thought we were and let the new coach pick his guy

I am completely opposed to teams trading for veteran QBs. Good QBs are uncommon in the NFL -- check out who is starting for various teams -- so teams don't let good ones get away except in the most unusual circumstances (ie, NE when they had Brady and Bledsoe or SD with Rivers and Brees).

The chances of getting a "franchise QB" through trade or free agency are slim and none, and of the two, a team is better off with the FA because if he fails to play up to expectations, at least the team didn't lose one or more draft picks as well as the $$$ and a roster spot. In the last decade, a few teams have struck gold with FA QBs, most notably, NO with Drew Brees and Arizona with Kurt Warner. It's possible that Buffalo may have hit with Fitzpatrick, and Washington with Grossman, but it's too early to tell.

Houston gave up a lot for Schaub, and he looks like he was a good investment. OTOH, Cutler is still questionable for Chicago, and Washington got fleeced for McNabb. IMO, Arizona got royally fleeced by Philly in trading for Kolb. Kolb's ability to put up big stats against crappy teams masks the fact that he sucks against good defenses because he doesn't read defenses well, makes poor decisions, holds the ball too long, and lacks leadership, which is why Vick is the starter in Philly.

Anyhoo, not dealing for Orton was probably one of the smartest non-moves the Fins have made in recent years. Henne is serviceable, and the Fins need serious upgrades at numerous other positions than QB. Using the pick(s) to make the team better rather than sending them to Denver was a smart move.

As one of the diehard "Just Say No 3 and out Orton" minority, it's not surprising. Bottom -line, a 2nd rounder or 3rd and a frontline starting DL player, while guaranteeing him an $8million contract would have been sheer folly considering his latest 3-10 record, career 3rd down and last season 4th QTR QBRs. A Denver Post poll and a major forum poll both revealed that more than 90% of the fans who actually watch the games wanted no part of him...no matter who replaces him. But folks here were arguing that from afar they were more savvy than those emotional Broncos fans. Gimmeabreak! When Elway, one of the all time great SB QBs looked long and hard for any excuse to start even Brady Quinn over Orton, that should be all you really need to know.

This regime is doomed based on their boneheaded moves and judgement regardless, so when even Ireland and Sparano, as desperate as they were to salvage their jobs refused to bite on this deal, it really speaks volumes!
