I love that we brought back Will Allen, I don't think he should have been released in the first place and personally I think carroll should have been released instead of sapp, atleast with sapp he gave us some veteran depth and would probably bounce back, but what worries me is what if allen's knee starts to bother him and he has to miss a couple games or something, who comes in and plays the nickel? carroll? wilson? those two guys couldn't cover my 80yr old grandmother, I think we should have kept sapp for some depth at least. does this worry anybody else?

At this point it would probably be Carroll because of experience. Wilson would eventually take over for Carroll, IMO

Jimmy Wilson, Carroll should be demoted to a water boy.

We as a team still do not seem to get it that we need 3 starting Corners. At least 3 and a decent 4th. Even I've learned to turn away from my "run the ball 55-60% of the time" mindset.

It's 2011, we might just have noticed Monday night that it is a passing league now and only 2 good corners does not cut it.

And here is a surprise that at least some of us have been talking about for years, pass catching TEs. In the last several years, how many pass catching TEs have we drafted?

And besides the two a couple of years ago, how many early picks did we spend on another good corner in the last several years?

Jimmy Wilson. At least he can make plays.. I don't think Carroll has ever made a play here. Seriously.

Unfortunately it's going to be Carroll. Nickel CB is a different beast and requires a little more of a "thinking" player. You can't just throw a rookie into that role - he won't have any idea what to do. Carroll is at least a smart guy and a playbookworm. I'm just as displeased with his play so far this season as anyone else, but just saying he's your only option at this point. Unless they've been preparing Smith or Davis to do spot duty at nickel.

Your so true

It's not like we could have drafted Rob Gronkowski(picked at 42)
or Alex Hernandez at pick number 113 instead we got Misi at pick #40
and Jerry at pick #73

Honestly who would you rather have Jerry and Misi
or Hernandez and Gronkowski?

this. but ive got news - IT ALWAYS BEEN A PASSING LEAGUE. people have just failed to realize it. and it continues to progress even moreso in this direction based on player safety rules etc. but its ALWAYS been a passing league. the prevailing thinking has just been incorrect is all. its permeated the head coaching ranks the media and the fans for years. its thinking thats been passed down for 100 years. but go back to the 40s and look at what sid luckman did. IT IS QUARTERBACK PLAY THAT WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. PERIOD. end of story. it ALWAYS has been this way. luckman was ahead of his time.

the ignorant thinking has FINALLY started to disappear. it IS a passing league. but it truthfully always has been. just go look at the superbowl quarterbacks. it takes a good passing game to get through the 4 games or so that u have to win to win a superbowl. yes u can luck ur way through a couple games (see new york). but u wont luck ur way through 4 in all likelihood.

and no dumb - trent dilfer or brad johnson references either. in 50 years OF COURSE there will be a couple anomalies. if running games won championships then why is the list of championships filled with the best quarterbacks of the day? and very few of the best running backs of the day have won championships?

its because teams with a great running back will try to ride him all the way. they depend on that player, and lose sight of the passing game. because they have always had it backwards, and their organizational philosophy turned into a blueprint of how to be good in the NFL and not GREAT. the moment they decided to ride their great back.

and thats the truth

You're the worst at this. Hindsight is 20/20. You constantly look back at mistakes this FO made and say you knew how it would've worked out. When you didn't know.

the thing is .... i don't know how much of you watched tape but carol imo had bad luck vs brady the ball was placed insanely good to get it completed on him at times. sapp on the other had had slow reactions and just never was even close to the balls.

i was hoping clemons would be healthy to play a dime type safety for us but he's hurt i would put his name out on the list

I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves the game because of the knee. Then we'll have Jimmy Wilson and Nolan Carroll as the 3/4 corners...

lol, bad luck eh? lets look at the facts here, carroll doesnt play the ball, he plays to just stay with his man and do enough to make the tackle. He doesnt try to make a play on the ball, he just sticks to his man no matter what and acts like the football isnt part of the game. He is either just confused on how to play the position or he just doesnt give a damn about making the play, what part of that is bad luck?

I guess Nolan "Hole In Zone" Carroll can play the nickel. Thatll be splendid.
