on the 17th, there was a thread posted about jimmy wilson giving will allen his jersey number back.
it was hailed as maybe the classiest move in nfl history! but due to his career long penchant for injury, i offered this reply.

i guess we know now i was right on the money. and my point here is not to be a "i told ya so" or pat myself on the back, or even to call out our misguided friend MADMIC21, i just want to understand what the reasoning is for all of the WILL ALLEN worship!
his injury history is long documented throughout his career, so i was not "hating" or stretching things. if so, i could see the [to some extent] the personal attacks and venom like i recieved from mm21.
he has never been anything but a "servicable" corner with no record of consistant big plays or being able to cover or shut down the big time wr's in the game [randy moss made him his personal stat tool when arriving in new england]. the giants made him their 1st round choice but SOON realized there blunder and sent him packing. and his sub par play and injury bug has followed him here.
but many feel he has been the unheralded, overlooked saviour of our secondary, that tony was a fool [and i admit, he usually is] to cut him and keep sapp. but here is another fact or two............... .
will allen had a bad camp and was injured or nursing an injury through the whole camp. and when he did practice it wasnt pretty. when he made any noise at all it was in the second half of the LAST pre season game, against NOBODYS and it wasnt highlight plays. BENNY SAPP had a great camp and made good plays in the pre season and seemed much improved from the past season.
WILL ALLEN was RIGHTFULLY cut and benny sapp WON that job out right. i am NO fan or supporter of tony sparano and want him gone, now, but his decision to cut will allen was the right call. cutting sapp and bringing back sapp was a BAD move. and as i said, it wouldnt last long!!!!
so again, i just dont understand all the furry and hype over will allen. for his supporters, i would like a DETAILED explanation of why so i can see what i am missing. i dont take it personally as many others who are like me, on this and other boards, who dont support allen get the same negativity and flames, not always as harsh as our young compadre madmic21, but pointed and heated in just the same.
will allen is a vet, but he cant play! we dont need an on the field assistant coach, we need a guy who can cover!!!
