The Dolphins will be hard-pressed to keep Soliai, the former Pro Bowl defensive tackle who will become a free agent in two weeks, according to a league source.

Unofficial interest in Soliai from other NFL teams has been significant this week at the NFL Scouting Combine. However, the Dolphins have yet to make an offer for the seven-year run-stopper.

Miami is the only team who can make a formal offer to Soliai before March 11, which is when the league calendar turns over.

Almost don't want hm to re-sign him so we don't have to hear from his agent anymore

I have a feeling we will shore up the offense only to watch our defense fall apart next year. I think we will have a huge hole at DT and the backfield could take a hit with young guys at safety and DB. Grimes is crucially important, but given his age and injury history, no guarantee he will be healthy all year, and if he goes, that's trouble.

I could totally see the offense improving but the defense taking a step back leaving us at 7-9 once again...

My guess is he won't be back. David Canter doesn't seem interested in working towards a fair deal with the Dolphins.

Honestly, getting rid of David Canter clients would be the best for this team. Sad that Soliai is one of his clients(he would benefit from firing him), but with Canter being one of the league's worst agents, the Dolphins would be best to concentrate on working with professional agents who know what the hell they are doing.

DT draft class is MAJOR deep.

We will let the market dictate his price and see if its to our taste. Same with Starks.

He's a good player, but I consider Randy Starks a better player pound for pound AND can play in more snaps/formations. Thing is though, there is a much smaller chance we resign Starks than Soliai. So if we don't resign Soliai, we might have neither... which would be turning one of our strengths into just one more weakness.

Our run-D has not been a strength the past two seasons thanks to Ireland and Coyle switching to a 4-3.

i think they have to resign either Paul or Starks. If we lose both we'll have Odrick and question mark in the middle. We have enough question marks as is and I don't see a rookie coming in and starting there. If they go the free agent route it will still cost big bucks so why not stick with the guy you know ?

Hickey is being real smart.

Letting go of Pouncey, Solai, Clemons. Lets get rid of the only consistent players on our team last year.

He is 30 years old and there are many DT's on the market. I want a run stuffer.

And end up losing both just like we did with Jake Long....what we need to do is decide if they are part of the solution for this team, if so make them a fair offer, don't wait for the market to dictate the price

Jake Long didn't want to be here.

Or risk over paying for a two-down DT on the down hill of his career approaching 31+ years old with a hard nose agent who is notorious for jacking up the price?

I have no issue letting the DT's hit the market.

There are a host of DT FA that could fit what Miami needs. Besides Soliai and Randy Starks and in no particular order...

Linval Joseph
Jason Hatcher
B.J. Raji
Ryan Pickett
Henry Melton
Pat Sims
Tony McDaniel
Cedric Thornton

Red Bryant looks like he is getting released. Maybe Vince Wilfork of the Achilles injury.

I am not saying the DT will come cheap, but let the market set the price.
