The 2014 Miami Dolphins are the 6th highest scoring team in the AFC, just a notch behind the juggernaut Steelers. The Dolphins field the #1 defense in the AFC. So how is it that the Dolphins face Buffalo this Thursday with their playoff hopes most likely hanging in the balance? We have to regretfully place blame on the shoulders of Joe Philbin.

In an alternate universe the Dolphins have been playing to win, and have put away six straight foes. We’re 7-2, and atop the AFC East thanks to our week 1 upset of the Patsies. In that alternate universe we’ve been playing to put games away, instead of handing the ball back to Pro Bowl quarterbacks and crossing our fingers.

Joe's Dolphins teams are now 9-11 in close games over 41 games

Joe Philbin is a good man but bad head coach.

What about the OC and DC? Do you care if they are retained. If so can they be retained once Joe is fired?

I would keep lazor and maybe name him head coach and keep Coyle.

Bad hire. Said it three years ago.

I agree I thought it was a garbage hire as well what is crazy the majority of these fans on here loved this hire, To be fair though they also loved it when this team traded for Daunte Culpepper and drafted Ted Ginn Jr.

don't recall what the majority thought of the culpepper trade, but I know damn well the vast majority was very confused and didn't like the ginn family pick...

There's definitely some bad patterns that have show themselves now that there's a big enough sample size:

poor gameplans that lead to poor first halves
daffy use/not use of timeouts
poor play in games AFTER bye weeks
Inability to beat the Bills
Admitted he lost his nerve with sticking to the game plan
coaches not to lose
looks like a Scooby Do villian*

*added that last one because it will never not be funny

Like any football decision such as this coming during a time in which the team was in that state everybody is going to have a certain opinion. Joe was an unknown commodity and it could have went very well for all we knew then. And is still could be a lot worse. For example the same situation probably occurred here when Parcells was hired but that was based more on an expectation of what he could do based on past performances. I think a lot of it comes from the general idea that things can work out and we all wish they would.

Stop blaming every little thing on Philbin. I'm ok with him going but he's not the only problem.Keep on mind we couldn't win a super bowl with Shula and Marino. It's never just about 1 person or 1 player. This is not the NBA .

Do you enjoy talkin out your ass? Because this is obviously false.
