Solomon Wilcots - How do these guys continue to have jobs

Do you think Solomon Wilcots is a bad analyst because he had bad things to say about our draft, or because he is a bad analyst? Because I can respect a case for the latter, but this really does seem like bashing the guy simply because he bashed our team first.

For me it's absolutely the latter. It's like taking the Steelers draft and saying they get an A+ b/c they got such great value on DeCastro. What about their other picks? Can you provide some "analysis" on the other picks b/c a draft is 7 rounds, not 1. I have no idea what the Steelers did the rest of the draft b/c it's not my job to know what they did after DeCastro. It's simple laziness and stupidity of the NFL Network for letting a guy make a grade without analyzing the whole draft. Millen basically shut him up by saying "take a look at the rest of their picks, they got some really good value later on." Only for Solomon to respond "Oh, is a C- to low for them than Matt?" Well do your F'ing research on the rest of the draft Solomon and than maybe you could make a better judgement. Or grade each team in the AFC East on their 1st round picks only!

See, this is a perfectly good reason to call the guy a crappy analyst. Not just "he didn't like our picks" but rather, "he doesn't even know who we picked."

That said, Matt Millen defending our draft makes me feel a little queasy.

Agreed, especially the WR's (memories of Charles Rogers and Mike Williams dancing in my head).

Well of course Millen said he liked B.J. Cunningham...that should make Cunningham a little queasy...given Millen's track record with WRs.

It's just like every year the Pats get an "A" draft grade just because they always have multiple picks. What good has all these extra picks done for the Pats since about 2005? They just get back four quarters for the dollar they gave up....it doesn't make them any better. The Pats took Tavon Wilson with a 2nd round pick and many draft experts didn't have this guy in their Top 350 prospects list....but Trey Wingo, and other Pat's slurpers, get all giddy and smooch Willie McGinest and Tedy Bruschi's butt about how great New England did in this year's draft. It's hillarious.

ESPN is ruled by the almighty dollar. They no longer provide insightful commentary or impart knowledge...that stopped a long time ago. They are the national enquirer of sports and they will appease the more popular teams and belittle the rest.

The only true sports journalist left at ESPN is Bob Ley.

I saw that. It was very annoying.

What was so annoying about it is how eager Solomon was to repeat the message that the rest of the clueless lazy media have fed him. He actually defended that point of view. Right away he started talking about replacing Brandon Marshall because that's the story the press have run with over and over for the past few months.

Those guys can only remember so much. Most of them played on a team, so I'm sure they know all about 'THEIR' team's draft and 'THEIR' team's strengths and issues. Then they probably know about the teams that are usually in the playoffs, but asking them to know about ALL of the teams may be asking too much. Even Kiper is clueless about many teams REAL strengths and issues. They go with what the media have been writing about usually.

Millen liked the draft, he seemed to really like it. That might be even worst than Wilcox giving us a C- though. :ponder:

The truth of the matter is, No one knows how good or bad a draft is going to be until the players start playing. It sure seemed as if Tannehill was going to be a heated discussion no matter where he was selected. I wonder what all these analyst were saying when guy's like Gabbert, Locker and Ponder were all selected way before their talent would indicate where they should have been picked. Tannehill's situation is no different then those, but it seems because this is the Miami Dolphins guy's like Wilcox, Shein, Lombardi and Kiper are going to pound the table to make their negative opinions heard and seem legit. To grade a draft solely on 1 player is absurd, and Wilcox of all people should know that. We all love this time of year because it give us fans some hope that our beloved teams, improve. I for one was extremely nervous leading up to the draft knowing picking #8 was going to be higher than where he should have been selected, but I give Ireland credit for having the "STONES" to stick with his conviction and not take any chances trading down. After all Ireland runs the team and he does what he feels is right.

I was listening to Frank Deford yesterday on the radio,,,,,he has been a sport's journalist since the early 1960's, when he started writing for Sport's Illustrated. Deford said the one thing he is really concerned about sport's journalism these days, is that these "journalists" don't actually do any research when writing stories. All they do is these cutesy sound bites, and put internet videos on the air, and then put their own opinions into the story. ESPN's sport's anchors are the worst at this....instead of reporting the "sport news" we have to hear clowns like Stu Scott screaming, "Booooooyahhhhhhhhhhhh...that was colder than the other side of the pillow." The Chris Bermans, Dan Patricks, and Keith Olberman's of the world think they are more important than the sports they cover.

I can remember the Browns getting an A+ grade from everybody for trading back into the 1st round and selecting Brady Quinn. Looks like an F now. So much for what the experts know.

hey guys, chandler jones, remember that name, cus he is about to the the stud of this draft. te hee
