CHATTER

The Dolphins like potential 2009 unrestricted free agents Channing Crowder and Vernon Carey but have decided to hold off on new contracts, though Crowder's agent has pushed for one. ''I can want all I want, but you've got to wait until they're ready,'' Carey said. . . . Some players weren't happy with former Dolphins kicker Jay Feely's comment that ''you can see the lack of talent that still exists'' here. ''He was part of the lack of talent we got rid of!'' Crowder said. Vonnie Holliday called Feely's comment ``kind of Tiki Barber-ish . . . Now that you're no longer [here], you downgrade us? I would expect a little more from that guy.''

Most players would take the high road in Feeley's situation and said something like "I thank the Dolphins for the opportunity, but I'm with a new team now and will only talk about my contribution here"
Or even something like: "The Dolphins apparently believe their interests would be best served by going in a different direction as far as the kicking game is concerned. I disagree and personally think they made a mistake, but thats football."

Of course comments like those dont make very good soundbytes and won't get you attention.

some guys should thank the dolphins for releasing them lol.

I was listening to the game last night on Sirius with the WQAM crew(Cefalo, Rose, Maddog) and they mentioned last night that the new regime loves Channing Crowder. I would definitely think they will try and sign him to a long term deal once the season ends.

Vernon Carey signing a long term deal is a no brainer, we finally have a good offensive line, and we need to keep it in tact.

when you lose 6 games by 3 points or less and your kicker isn't consistent .. some guys are lucky they have a broadcasting career lined up

I think we have to lock up Carey long term, and I wouldn't mind locking up Crowder either.

I'm glad that Feely is gone from the team. I never really liked the guy.

Feeley played well for us. His play on the field is not why he was released. It was his big mouth.

i wouldn't re-sign anyone before the season ends.

If we have another miserable year, then these guys both need to go. As the entire roster overhaul will need to continue. If we have a decent year, then yeah try and keep both around and have them stay.

They gotta earn it though at thsi point

What if they have great years in spite of the team having a miserable year? What if they're the model of consistently good play the Dolphins are looking for?

Feeley only missed 2 kicks all year. In the rainstorms in London and Philly. He was almost perfect last year

they would still have to go. The stink of being on 2 horrible losing teams would be too much to overcome.
