this was in the herald today and two experts are sayint the qb and receiving corp is what brought this team down and that ronnie is just a average back.
i hate to say it but our receviers is the weakest link on the whole team. and our running backs are not that good. ronnie is ok but isnt making plays that #2 pick should be making. morris and minor dont scare anyone and ricky, hell he may be here and then again he may disapear . but our qbs is a question mark too. i really feel that if we use f/a to address the defense we should be ok for one more year.
the offense is a red letter issue with me. and here is why.
our receivers couldn't outrun a turtle even if the turtlles had the receivers paycheck waving in the air.
welker and booker may be gone and chambers should be demoted to special teams and the #4 sport.
hagan may be ok but i am not betting him breaking out.
we need to draft 2 wrs or bring in randy moss and then draft jarrett and then we could have jarrett, moss , hagan and chambers .

i know this may be a bad plan but i think it is the wrs that has been our achillies heel this year . but here is a good idea to think about.
draft a qb next year draft a.d. peterson or dewayne jarrett and then draft 2 olinemen and draft victor de grate a good de/olb and then a cb and we will have fixed outr offense.

I'll agree that we need WR help badddd.. But I doubt Adrian Peterson will be their at # 9,Nor do we need him.. Ronnie is a good back and with him and Ricky will be fine next year.

Couldn't disagree more. Many times this year recievers were running free (Chambers specifically) and Harrington for whatever reason too the short throw instead. I think this team could use a reciever and Ted Ginn would be a great choice, but the corps isn't bad. Ronnie will always get picked on for being the 2nd pick, but it was a weak draft and he is still one of the best players from that draft. He is a good RB though and has shown that when he gets the carries he will get the yards. Obviously the QB spot is a question mark, but Culpepper is a good QB and if he can get healthy he'll be fine assuming they can get a line to block for him. Even though they could use a stud WR, the position is not the most pressing need for this team right now though.

Ronnie is a damn good back, its hard to be GREAT when your line isnt good and you have no passing threat what so ever.

I thinkt he receivers played like the weakest link, but i dont think they ARE the weakest link. the receivers can only catch the balls when their thrown to them, and more importantly, when their thrown 'well' to them. unlike some of hte ducks they were trying to catch from joey.

I can't emphasize how much we need a LT and if Joe Thomas falls to #9 he's a complete no-brainer. If Levi Brown grades pretty high we ought not hesitate to pick him either.

That's one guys opinion - Ken Herock. The other "experts" seem to think the exact opposite.

......and i'm not even going to talk about his opinion of Ronnie Brown.

Ronnie missed 3 games and still got a 1000 yards. Ricky, who will return in 07 had a 4.4 ypc avg. and 6 TD's in a reserve roll in 05. Between the two we had a great running game, so the "Experts" are full of crap. I will however agree if we had a better effort fro the WR's this year namely 1 and 2 we could have been better. I think Miami needs to push for a big time "CLUTCH" WR. IMO, if Daunte recovers from his injuries to near 100%, he will be on the warpath. I would be all for drafting a QB after the first round, but Joey and Cleo IMO are more then good enough at the backup positions. Let the two battle it out for the 2nd spot and may the best man win. Miami needs a LT, WR, CB and OLB. We get those 4 things between the draft and FA and we are set for 07. Say what you will about Saban, but we need a whole lot less now then we did two years ago.

Jared Gaither has declared and would be an excellent pick up with the 39th pick overall. 6'9, 350 pounds, and he's just a beast. Hasn't allowed a sack all year long and plays in the SEC.

He's the Marcus McNeil of this draft.

our receivers couldn't outrun a turtle even if the turtlles had the receivers paycheck waving in the air.

im sorry but that might be the worst metaphor ever. why would the turtle having their pay check waiving in the air make the receivers run faster? the metaphor might work for a cornerback or saftey as in "our corners are so slow they would get beat by turtles as wide receivers" but in the other way around it makes absolutely no sense, especially considering why a receiver would be chasing a turtle (one assumes in the metaphor that the turtle would be in a the CB position) so why would the receiver outrun someone holding their paycheck? wouldnt they merely want to catch up it? which our receivers happen to be good out, they cant break away from their covereage.

sorry this has nothing to do witgh football at all, im just nitpicking

but the statement would be more appropriate like this "our receivers couldnt outrun a paraplegic monkey, even if the monkey was chasing them in its wheel chair spitting rabies/ebola infected blood at them"

how can ronnie have 1500 yards with the number of carries he gets... think people, what billing hasn't he lived up to? you know his YPC was .1 less than larry johnson this year? if ronnie got 400 carries hed have about 1700 yards this year...

but if we dont use him, how do you expect him to get those yards?

Ronnie is a good and will be a great back with some more oline help...We need 1 more speedy wide reciever..But to pick 2 wide recievers is a waste...and sorry to tell ya, but moss is washed up....
I think our major needs are QB, OL, CB, WR...Probably in that order

Stop listening to the so called experts they are playing with your head.

Especially when Saban himself said it that he likes to limit Ronnie Brown's carries to 15, 18, 20 carries per game. :shakeno:
