The game has not been all bad.

1.. At least there is now NO QUESTION where this team is. There was a pretty good improvement in penalties, and NO TO and yet were still getting smoked by 2 TD's.

2. Gus Ferrote is playing at or near the worst of any current NFL QB. You are seeing what you get with him. He is a career loser, and this regime needs to be called out on the carpet on bringing in this loser to start the Saban regime. Fielder was markedly better than this guy, no if's and or buts.

3. I think this defense is dreadful, and is a very bad sign for this team. There can not be a worst 3rd down defense in the league...there simply can't. The trading of Pat Surtain was just a colossal mistake. Forget what he costs, he was simply the best defensive player we had. He has killed Miami tonight.

4. I think we should all be very very realistic about this team. This is a 5 or 6 win team at the very best. Accept this and life as a football fan becomes more bearable.

I cannot believe the stink we all made about not being abke to watch this grabage...we should all be ashamed and call the NFL offices back and thank them for making this debacle less dreadful, as listening to this mess is easier to hanfle than watching.

I agree with some of that. The penalties were always ridiculously overblown, especially the posts that insisted we'd be winning by 2 or 3 TDs if we got rid of the penalties. That's like the baseball nonsense that so-and-so would hit 70 home runs if he played home games in this park instead of that one.

I'm admittedly not a salary cap expert, but I was vehemently opposed to getting rid of Ogunleye and Surtain. As I emphasized in another post, you need a heavy dose of premier players, not just many good players. Surtain doesn't need me describing how talented he is, and Ogunleye was a young star caliber DE just entering his prime. It is laughably irrelevant how he has played in Chicago. In a Dolphin uniform and schemes he was special and would have continued to be.

I really hate to agree with all that negativity but you hit the nail right on the head.......I truely thought that we were a better team than we are. I don't have to see any stats, I know that we are the worst 3rd down defense in the league.

This isn't the model with which New England has built a dynasty.

It's pretty sad when one of the few positives are you had less penalites than points for once. Sorry....this team is worse than last season's team....we lost alot of games but we played close in many of them...add the fact that we had no running game...lost the O.C....and had numerious injuries...this years version is PATHETIC!

I watched the game and it was a real beatdown. Ronnie Brown is a bright spot. You guys didn't miss much.

I strongly disagree with the posts stating that it was a mistake to get rid of Surtain. We were 4-12 with him and we will probably be around the same record without him. The difference is we will have space to improve next year, instead of being saddled with an ageing (sp) veteran. Please don't get me wrong, he is talented. But he was not the difference maker in our season. To get better we HAD and HAVE to get somewhat younger and go through some growing pains. I feel that Madison will be in the same boat as Surtain in the near future. We can't keep everyone and have to sacrafice to be a great team in the future.
Also, PLEASE, PLEASE stop with the Saban is a bad coach, Saban is messing up the team, Saban isn't the genius we thought he was.....EVERYONE we were 4-12 last year! With a few exceptions, (SD add St. Louis), you don't just go from worst to first. There is a progression. If you want to see a good example of that look at Cincinatti (sp). Wannstache and Speilman left this team in a freakin mess. We didn't have a whole lot of cap room, our o-line really has to overachieve to reach awful, our defense was getting old. We can go on and on, which we have in many posts. We are already in a better cap situation, we have some high quality coaches and a stud running back. Give Saban a break and be patient. Cheer your a** off but realize that what is starting to be put into place this year will be built upon next year and then in the year after that we will be back on top. That is my prediction.
I love the fact that the fans here are die hard, real phin fans. We care about the team, so whether I agree with you all or not we are all in this together. But, take a big breath and understand this year will be tough. Just wait for year 2 or 3 of the Saban era, we will all be smiling!
