Some good points..some bad, but there are some common things I see in many of his poor performances.

1. Pressure was constant..."Culpepper was also sacked nine times in the game vs ATL"..."In the face of an unrelenting Bears’ pass defense...sacked four times"..."he was under pressure from a blitzing Packers’ defense and had difficulty finding an open receiver"..."The second half was a different story for Culpepper and the Vikings as his offense line gave him time to pass the ball"..."Culpepper started the first series under pressure as Carolina blitzed on three straight plays"....NFL teams aren't stupid.

2. Lack of a running game....check this out...
Wk 1 leading rusher - Culpepper 19 yds
Wk 2 leading rusher - M.Bennett 36 yds
Wk 3 leading rusher - M.Moore 101 yds...(Culpepper had 300 yds/3 Td's)
Wk 4 leading rusher - M.Moore 57 yds
Wk 5 BYE
Wk 6 leading rusher - M.Moore 57 yds
Wk 7 leading rusher - M.Moore 45 yds

3. Trouble with the new offense.....
"He looked like he was having trouble with the new offense"..."Culpepper had open receivers and couldn’t find them"..."Culpepper missed open receivers, had passes blocked at the line, and added two picks"..."Culpepper reverted back to the first two games of the season and sometimes looked lost in the pocket"

Now, ultimately, it IS Culpepper's fault for #3. It's his responsibilty to learn the offense as the leader. There is no excuse for that. But, you can see that there seem to be several other mitigating facors into why he failed so badly.

I didn't even mention the loss of Moss...that seems like a cop out (to me). Do you know that when Moss was injured in 2004 for 3 weeks, Culpepper threw for 7 TD's and only 1 INT?? He had a 65.0 comp% and he averaged 255 yds. So, I don't buy it! It has much more to do with the "Love Boat" distraction, the change of offense (of which I blame Culpepper for the most), no running game at all and the constant blitzing by the opposition. Let's see teams try that with our WR's (MINN had T.Taylor & M.Robinson for most of last year) and Ronnie/ Ricky (hopefully).

last year was just a bad year for Culpepper, he is better than he played last year and of course it didn't help him that he had to learn a new offense, had no running game, and had a bad o-line.

Culpepper will have a good running game here, he will have a solid o-line and an offense he is somewhat famaliar with. he was a top QB for 4 years and will be one again

Even with Culpeppers 2005 "horrible" campaign, he still completed 62% of his passes. Compare that to Ferotte's 52% and I ask why does Ferotte think he earned anything more than a quick ticket out of town?

In Ferottes defense he had to throw away alot of balls. But Culpepper is the man. He will help us improve on third downs. And he is great in the redzone.

posulutely absotively an improvement:cooldude:

Keep in mind, early last year his starting center was injured and lost for the year and that added to OL problems as well.

All in all, it was a horrible and forgetful year.

Moss was hurt for a lot longer then 3 games, there were quite a few that he played in that he shouldn't have been, Tice wanted to try and use him as a decoy and only made the injury worse. Even after he came back he wasn't the same for most of the remainder of the season.

Randy's stats for 04 were 49 catches- 767 yds

the thing that hurt culpepper the must was I believe the first game vs the bucs. He injured his knee and after that it never fully healed.

The biggest thing that lead to him playing so poorly was the new offense
and losing linehan. Our offense is the same as his old one and he should be just fine.
