Some great things happened today for the Fins

seems like nothing is going on, but I think A LOT of positives happened today, I wrote a full blog about it, but I think the Falcons getting #3, McFadden working out, and Huizenga selling are all potentially momentous things affecting the Fins future. in a positive way. Thoughts?

How does the Falcons getting the 3rd pick or McFadden working out, help us?
:ponder:

He doesn't go to the Jets. That's how it helps us out. Also, if someone wants him they have to trade up to #1 or #2.

The Falcons at #3 could be potential trading partners that would allow us to still get C. Long or Dorsey while picking up more picks. And McFadden working out would help to raise his stock which has taken a bit of a dip lately. At least that's my take. :)

bingo, I went in depth in my blog but it was long and didnt think it'd be welcome to repost the whole thing here - but someone might get wowed by McFadden and jump up to trade with us. Also I speculate that the Falcons might be more inclined to swap from #3 to #1 as the compensation would be less.

Lets just hope and pray that there is a player at the combine who really excells and some team decides they just can't do without him and are afraid of not getting at their pick.

Looks like Ryan will slide because he's not doing the whole workout at the combine. I heard or read somewhere today. Oh yea it was on Sirius radio that he would not be throwing at the combine but he will be doing the other drills. I thought throwing was one of the most important things a QB does at the combine?

I honestly don't see McFadden falling past the Raiders at 4 regardless, and now there's the rumor circulating about a possible trade between ATL and Dallas which involves the #3 pick, and guess who Jerry will go after if it does in fact go down.

The Raiders just gave $14M to Justin Fargas. They won't be drafting McFadden.

The Falcons want Matt Ryan too badly to trade down. It won't happen.

We're talking about the Raiders here. With that front office anything can happen my friend. Also, they could cut loose both Jordan & Rhodes.

From KFFL:
Feb 14 Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports the Oakland Raiders will likely release RB LaMont Jordan.

Feb 14 Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports the Oakland Raiders are not likely to bring back RB Dominic Rhodes for next season.

If the Falcons realize how many holes they need to fill and or Ryan doesn't pan out for some reason I could see something like this happening.

Both Cowboys 1st round picks
2rd round pick
Marion Barber

Cowboys Get:
Falcons #3 pick
Deangelo Hall

Which in turn means JJ gets his guy at 3.

Two potential problems with that, though. The Falcons are rumored to be interested in Ryan and the 'Pokes have no guarantees that someone more interested in McFadden doesn't trade up with us. What I'm hoping is that Atlanta wants Ryan bad enough that they'll swap picks (with a few extra for compensation coming the 'Phins way) and then Dallas will want McFadden badly enough they'll trade their 2 #1's (and maybe a little more) for the 3rd pick Atlanta would have traded to us under this scenario.

You need 2 backs nowadays and McFadden is a potential franchise back. I say the AP comparisons will be hitting stride as he goes through his workouts. Let's hope Ryan and he have great pro days and then let the bidding begin. I just hope we don't get greedy or look at that stupid trade value chart. It's too outdated. Get what you can and move down!!

AMEN!! Alot would have to happen BUT it is reasonable. There is logic to it and it could be a win win for all teams involved.

The Raiders also have Lamont Jordan and Dominic Rhodes under contract. Both could be gone. And you are right, you do need two backs. But, you can't afford to pay both backs top $. And the Raiders have their guy in Fargas, they won't be shelling out big bucks for McFadden. They'll be quite content to take Sedrick Ellis or Glenn Dorsey to help their defense.

All of the analysts say there is no comparison between McFadden and Peterson. Peterson is a much more physical runner known for breaking tackles. McFadden is seen as more as a speed guy without the power.

That's alot of wishful thinking and hoping, but hey, I hope you're right.
