### Some numbers to keep in mind if new Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey decides to cut a few veterans:

Phillip Wheeler would have a $6.4 million cap hit if he’s on the team. The 2014 cap hit would be $6.4 million if he’s cut with a post-June 1 designation, $10.4 million otherwise. It would be surprising to see Miami keep him at $6.4 million; he could be cut or asked to take a pay cut.

Matt Moore’s 2014 cap number would be $5.5 million if he’s on the team, $1.5 million if he’s cut.

Dimitri Patterson’s 2014 cap number would be $5.4 million if he’s on the team, 0 if he’s not.

Nate Garner’s would be $1.8 million if he’s kept, $333,334 if he’s released.

thoughts ?

Personally i'd say goodbye to Wheeler ( take the hit now ) and try to resign Moore and Garner with pay cuts

Patterson is a dilemma. Good player with serious injury concerns.

So you think cutting Wheeler would make sense when cutting and keeping him costs the same?

I can see Moore being gone.
I like Patterson when healthy. Good player when healthy and hes worth the cost if he can play. This one is a tough decision, but I think we should keep him.

Hard to imagine Wheeler being gone next year. Even harder to imagine him playing well, though. Unfortunately I didn't see much from Jelani Jenkins last year. He'd be the next guy in line.

How in the world does GArner make that much ugh

We overpaid on both linebackers based on one season of performance. They both got owned last year

I don't see us cutting Wheeler...it wouldn't save us any money it would actually cost us money. I'd keep him in a reserve roll and cut bait next offseason.

To be fair, Coyle's schemes didn't help either guy. Way too much line stunting, which led to some easy blocks for offensive linemen on both guys.

Guys just cant shed blocks to save their lives lol

.

It will cost 4 mill more to do it after June was my logic.
As Walrus said Jenkin probably is not ready for full time work though he played well in our nickle stuff . After OL and running back LB would be my third position of need so go draft one.

Wheeler will be here, and Duff-man better have him tackling. I don't need Wheeler blowing up every play or causing a fumble every carry, but I want him to tackle like the runner was carrying the cure.

Trade Moore and draft a quarterback in round 4 or 5.

We should be doing that every year anyways (drafting a QB). Never know when you'll stumble across a Tom Brady in the 6th round.

I'd cut Patterson. I'm tired of drafting and picking up guys that are always hurt. Doesn't matter how good he is, the guy can't make any plays if he can't get on the field.

Ozzy rules!!

we pretty much have to part ways with all of them, esp if we want to resign grimes, solai, etc
