This protecting the qb crap is getting out of controll! 5 years ago you were allowed 2 steps after the qb threw the pass, but now it is a 5000 dollar fine. I am all for the spearing fines if they had bad intent, but this is getting out of controll. Sallisbury on ESPN 2 night was saying the other night "if you don't want the QB to get hit, then put him in a red jersey and start playing 7-7, but as it stands right now you are taking to much away from the game." Seriously how can you expect a 250-300lb man to run full steam at a QB, but then stop on a dime when the second the ball is thrown. It is against physics! If you don't want the QB to be sacked than just say so, don't be coy and make it impossible and a fine to do so. Their are guys like Vick out there, and if you give them an extra advantage the game will get ugly. Beeing able to get hit or elude a hit is what makes QBs great(ie Farve and Elway), you take that away and you trivialize the game. Teams have to be held accountable if they are going to drop back 50 times a game, and the game will just get ugly if you don't. This is the NFL not MLB they don't need to artificially create offense to have ratings, the have the ratings and now they are just getting greedy.
