nothing huge but heck its newsMiami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder expects to be off his crutches and running around before the month of February concludes. His goal is to be cleared to participate in the team's offseason conditioning program that begins in March.
During a WQAM segment he had with Big O on Thursday, Crowder said the right foot injury he suffered on the very first series of the Dolphins' 27-20 loss to the Texans on Dec. 27th wasn't as serious as Ronnie Brown or Donald Thomas' Lisfranc injuries, which typically require about six month of rehab.
Crowder didn't specify if he had surgery on the foot, but it's likely he didn't because having screws or pins inserted into the broken foot usually requires a longer recovery time.
Crowder said he's been told by team doctors and specialists that he'll be walking with the assistance of crutches for the next two weeks, then spend another two weeks in a walking boot.
After that he'll be cleared to begin running on the foot, and said he expects to participate in the team's first minicamp if he doesn't suffer a setback.
"I'll be ready for workouts," said Crowder, who contributed 51 tackles, one sack and one interception in his fifth NFL season. "It should be fine; about a month. I'll be back running and making plays.
"Everyone was coming to me with the sad face [after the injury]. My mom's sad. My girl's sad. Let's get this [injury] out the way, get back healthy and play through the season."
This interview is a must hear because you get to understand why Crowder's such a popular guy in the locker room. He's a riot on any subject, even sensitive ones like the brutal hit Pat White took in the season finale. Just know you can't take him too seriously.
Dolphins fans should hope he's not joking about his speedy recovery?
