Man another nail biter. While the offense was all but inept, the defense showed up today, well at times.

A few observations...

Rhodes should have been ejected prior to the game. He punched or threw a punch at Wake and hit him in the chin/chest/lower helmet.

Vontae can hit. I mean the dude has hustle and isn't afraid to lay a lick on someone.

Why in the hell does Henne roll to the opposite side that he throws from or at least it seemed like today? If the Jets are bringing the house and it is a jail break, roll out of the pocket and throw the ball out of bounds. Stop taking unnecessary hits and losing 15 yards. Same goes for ronnie if your going to throw the ball and you're already out of the pocket, throw the damn thing out of bounds!

O-line looks pretty bad today but a "W" is a "W" and this hasn't been a problem really since the first game.

Henne made some bad decisions today however they weren't game breakers. A few dropped passes today as well as a throw he missed to hartline that would have been a big play. Overall a C- performance today but did enough to not lose the game for us with stupid decisions.

Where was the stopping of the run today? Jones was gashing us for 5 yards a carry it seemed. Did Reggie not get enough reps in practice to take crowders place? I mean playing to the level of crowder isn't asking much. Just make 1 out of 10 plays and make sure that you hit the wrong gaps. lol...just calling it like I see it.

Now onto the secondary. I don't understand PP's blitzing schemes. I don't think anyone will disagree the fact that Wilson and Bell can blitz and get to the qb. Hell it was successful the first time we played the jets and against the Saints and even today. However, why in the heck do we abandon what is successful? Getting to the qb was almost non existent in the second half and we made filthy look great in the second half. PP needs to stay and put extra time because it only looks like he dials in the first half of games.

We need to draft/trade/sign F.A. a middle linebacker or two that can actually cover. I don't know about you guys but I am pretty sick and tired of being burned by the tight end.

S. Smith and V. Davis are going to be play makers in this league. Period. I was impressed how they played for the majority of the game. Davis can get a bit antsy and that showed when he went for the pick and left his feet on a dive/knock down maybe and it ended up with a Jets wideout going long after the catch. Smith should of had a pick 6 but is making moves that really is impressive for a rookie. As stated earlier, Davis can hit and isn't afraid of contact.

When will this team ever learn to capture the momentum and put teams away when the opportunity presents itself? I mean I felt that the Jets were going to come back and win this game and it was going to be another game that was going to slip away. It seemed like when Ginn would deliver the knockout punch, our defense would allow them to go down the field in 2-3 plays and counter punch. That is the same song and dance that we have seen all year. I don't know if that is coaching or what.

Oh yeah and fields today really turned the field position for us during the first half. I think the wind helped but still.

Fat Jabba the Hut still runs his mouth. The guy refuses to give us props for anything saying that he would rather have a winning locker room this game but in the end would rather be in the jets locker room because they are headed in the right direction and last time he looked they had a winning record and well Miami doesn't. WTF. Shut up dude. Your such a whiny piece of shat that I wish someone would punch you right in the mouth and jiggle your fat man ******* even more. God I hate you. Choke on a phallus ...seriously...

Great post. There are signs of hope for this dolphins te while there are still some parts of our game that we need to improve on.

Fields' punts kept us alive early at a time our team really needed the help. His contributions in the first half were forgotten once the scoring started in the 3rd quarter, but we hold it to a 3-3 tie early thanks in a very large part to his huge field position saving punts.

That play was ridiculous. I have no idea why Henning thought it was a good idea to have Henne roll out so he would have to throw against his body.

1st pick in the draft needs to be a WR.. thats all im saying

While that is a big need...I feel it is best we go defense with the first round pick and pick up a WR in FA. OLB, MLB, NT, or FS...whatever it is it has to be defense

I think we have good pieces at WR. Turner, Hartline, and Bess have alot of upside. We need some middle linebackers and safeties that can cover. I was really hoping we would let Crowder go and sign Bart Scott, but you know how that worked out.

I am thoroughly convinced that we need an ILB, OLB as well as a true FS and another NT to push Soliai to perform on a weekly basis or become backup fodder.

Once we address those we should be in good shape. I think we should address the wr situation via free agency or trade possibly. Unless a true stud WR (never a given) drops in our lap in the draft, that is the way I see it. Realistically though, they are far and few between in the draft and usually it takes 2-3 years before the lightbulb comes on anyway. By then Ricky may be gone and ronnie will have hit either hit the 30 year old wall or close to it.

I thought Henne was pretty good overall. It was his first start on the road.... and other than a couple bad throws and a couple bad sacks, he was solid.

Our run defense is a bit overrated. We are a decent run defense, but def not top5. Our inconsistency in run defense has shown all season long and will probably continue. We are probably somewhere between 10-15 in run defense truthfully.

Cannot wait to get a big time MLB on this team... and someone/anyone who can cover a tight end.

Our rookie corners will be studs one day. It's going to be a long and frustrating year in 2009 cause they do give up their fair share of plays, but that's to be expected by rookies. They'll be good, but we're gonna have to deal with some major gashes against our pass defense in the meanwhile.

Most annoying part of the game for me was probably after Ginn's second KR and then the following series our defense gets the Jets to 3-and-out and Bess fumbled that PR. Talking about momentum...

WE need to run more screens and not one's to Bess.

The RB screens and get Ginn in on some screens. How bout that fake end around or w/e, that was a gay play. Just give Ginn the ball. He was the hot hand today.

Back to the RB screen, its been called a total of probably 3 times this year. Probably has gained 100 yards on 3 plays. Ricky, Ronnie, and Ginn are elite open field runners. Get them some blockers and its off to the races. Good god. The Jets bring 8 people on the blitz, so lets do a play action on 3rd and 10 and get sacked or have our shifty big pass catching tight end haynos go up for a jump ball against a corner. Idiotic.

Our 5 WR sets consists of Fasano and Polite lined up out wide. Are you serious? I dont even know what to say about that. We have WR's for a reason.

Call screens against the blitz, should of done it against NO also. We are the ONLY team in the NFL that does not use the RB screen atleast once a game. RB's are only involved in the passing game on dump offs. Ronnie has great hands, don't let that be a waste.

Also the defense after we score is terrible. They made a great stop and forced a 3 and out after Taylor returned the fumble. But the Miami Dolphins that we are caused Bess to fumble the punt (knew it was coming, just dont touch the ball). So they did get a turnover. Then that defense that fails came in. I think it had to do with not blitzing Sanchez AT ALL after that. What were we scared of? wtf. Couple lucky catches but catches none the less on the Jets part. Defense held up at the end but man why do they let teams not only score but do it in less than 3 minutes. Blitz when that starts happening next time plz.

No way...

1st pick in the draft needs to be a WR.. thats all im saying

We need a nasty Ray Lewis/ Brian Urlacher LB asap to stuff the run and a speedy outside LB that can cover. It's too big of a risk to draft a WR 1st--we can pick up a "proven" WR in FA in the offseason. Look at this list:

Joe Horn (fifth-round pick), Rod Smith (undrafted) and Jimmy Smith (second-round) T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Donald Driver (seventh-round) Mario Manningham (third round), Pierre Garcon (6th round), Johnny Knox (5th round), Sidney Rice (2nd round), Brandon Marshall (4th round), and Miles Austin (supplemental draft)

We just need to draft better.
