First off I would like to say that Tha Jags Fans are about
to learn what Miami Fans have known for some time.
"He who lives by the Pass Dies by the Pass." Welcome to
Marino's World, I am not knocking Marino but he did want
to become the first QB ever to win the Superbowl with a
pure passing team. And as we learned that just isn't going to happen.
Next I would like to say no one try harder than Jay F. None
of us could do it better. You have to give him that.
Now here is what I have seen that he can do.
1) Rollouts
2) Short to Medium passes
3) Scrambleing (Remember how many used to cry for a
QB who could, including me.)
4) He is very good at Ball handling, which includes play action
fakes. Which Marino never saw the reason for.
5) A intense desire to win and a never say die attitude.
6) And lastly passes the are down the center of the field.
He weakness that I can see are.
1) He sometimes throws the ball when he's being rushed
without looking where it going first.
2) He can't throw the deep routes with any accuracy.
3) He can't throw the out patterns to the strong side with any
zip. Because of the distance involced.
So knowing this defenses are doubling Chris on the weakside
singleing Thompson on the strong side. An zoning up the
weak side as well. Forcing Jay to connect in his weak areas.
What is the answer then?
More passes down the center of the field to Randy, more crossing routes, and more dump off passes to the backs.
Anyone else got any ideas?
