I felt that this deserved its own thread.

This trade is about Kiko Alonso. If Alonso has rehabbed the knee properly and is healthy for us, no one will ever remember dropping 5 spots in this draft. He is a 25 year old true Mike linebacker that is athletic as any MLB in the league.

Taking on Maxwell's contract isn't that big of a deal. The guy sucked last year, but he's a much better scheme fit here, and if he isn't any better than he was a year ago we can cut him for only a 3 million dollar cap hit. Who cares?

If you really want to get mad about our draft position, then get mad at this stupid team for once again winning a meaningless game at the end of the season to absolutely bone our draft position. By beating the Pats we knocked ourselves out of the Joey Bosa and Jalen Ramsey sweepstakes, the two true "elite" defensive prospects in this draft. I won't care if we miss out on Jack if Alonso is healthy, and VH3 isn't a much better CB prospect than Apple or Alexander who I can almost guarantee will both be there at 13. At 13 we also have a chance at an awesome end prospect like Ogbah, Spence, Lawson or Dodd, and I think we should go that route anyway.

This is not a bad trade at all, everyone needs to chill the **** out.

I need Xanax after reading this forum for a couple of hours.

Also we are supposedly restructing maxwell so may get him for less than 8.5 hopefully if reports are true about restructure

If we win just 1 more game & finish 7-9 we pick 13th so in my mind not a big deal. We didn't lose a draft pick to pick up 2 starters younger than what we had to help rebuild the D that was awful last year.

sounds like that bottle of xanax will probably be half empty if I find it. :err:

I hope it works out, it might work out. No one knows yet.

Can xanax extinguish a dumpster fire?

I gotta agree with u... we didn't give up a 4th like previously reported and if healthy alonso alone is worth a 2nd rounder. We basically gave up a high 3rd for 2 players. Not to bad imho

if this trade is all about an MLB who has multiple acl tears and has missed about a third of his eligible career (both college and pros) because of knee injuries then we're just as stupid as everyone is claiming we are. not all starters are created equal and odds aren't in our favor that this kid returns to his DRY form let alone avoids major injury.

i understand tellin the forum to take a chill pill but that doesn't make the trade any less of a glimmering turd.

Meh. I was told to chill and that I was over reacting when we kept Ireland and Ross told us philbin was staying

he had knee injuries at Oregon too?

If this trade was just about Kiko Alonso then they should've traded just for him with only a 6th round pick as compensation. This is about Tannenbaum and Grier losing sight of the big picture and not emphasizing long term value.

It seems we are trading youth and results for age and injury concerns. I am not one to hand out free agency grades till the end of the season, so I will hold off judgement till then. However, there are a lot of "ifs" linked to this year's free agency.

I have no problem if we resign Miller for $7 million for 5 years, the same Muscle Hamster was bestowed.
