We have lost to Seattle, Buffalo, and the Pats. We were in all 3 games in year 2 of a total rebuild against 3 of the top teams in the league. I am happy with the direction of the team. Didnt expect the playoffs this year. You can see signs of growth. And our future qb hasnt taken a snap yet. We all know we are not on the level of the big boys yet but we are coming

I agree and hope they are able to sit Tua until the week after the bye. Let the o-line mesh and Tua heal further. During the end of the season we would then have an idea as to what we have with Tua. If we need to go a different direction than Tua we would have he fire power to do so in the draft.

Agreed. There have been some coaching deficiencies that have been revealed, especially on defense, hopefully we can get some of those sorted out, but in general I agree. Rebuild draft capital invested has been promising with this years draft, and we have plenty of ammo for next year as well. We still have some holes, but good talent has been added to the team from last year, especially happy to see the direction of the Oline. Hopefully we will get to have a look at Tua at some point this year, and hopefully he plays well and doesn’t get injured.

The Dolphins are 12th in the NFL in points allowed per game. It's easy to forget that scoring is at a record high, so Miami's defense doesn't look good at times, but that's not unique to Miami. I agree that this team has made huge strides over last year, and that's part of what leads to frustrations. We want to win! But, that's a good sign.

Your points are make sense and have been recognized by the national media. We have been competitive in every game. I sense a little streak about to start at Frisco. I disagree with Prisco in that if Tua is healthy the long distance travel to last years depleted NFC champions should not be a concern. Start Tua; good weather, O-line and running game is gelling.

I guess it all depends on where you get your stats from. For example:

Has us as the 31st rated defense in terms of defensive efficiency scoring low in passing and rushing defense which is what my eyes have told me. It seems to me that our run defense has been poor. It also seems to me that the communication in the secondary has been discombobulated. This is evident in the 57 yard completion at the end of the 1st half on Sunday where Iggy got torched and didn’t seem to understand where he should be so the Seahawks end up scoring 7 points with 16 seconds or so left in the half. Some of that is on the rookie CB for sure, but some of that is on the coaching staff for putting him in that position and not sorting out the communication issues.

Another non defensive related coaching issue was not challenging that Fitzpatrick would be 3rd down conversion when they said he Was over the LOS, but when they replayed it on TV it looked very clear that he was behind the LOS. The fact that Flo doesn’t have someone in the booth who can tell him yo challenge that was a real momentum killer and very upsetting.

The defense needs work. Here’s another stat sheet:

This shows that our defense is actually 30th in red zone TD % and 30th against rushing touchdowns. It does show that we are 10th in scoring defense, so while that’s not a disaster, some of that is a function of who we played and how they played us. But, maybe it’s because we didn’t have a preseason, but I do think there are some coaching issues that need to be resolved particularly on the defensive side of the ball because those issues should be fixable, that’s all I was saying...

You're right. Perspective counts. SEA avgs 35.5/gm. Miami allowed 31. BUF avgs 31. Miami allowed 31. JAX avgs 24. Miami allowed 13. NE (counting the KC game) avgs 24. Miami allowed 21. I know, I know, only 4 games. As inept as the D appears, it's not time for unbridled panic.

Yeah, everyone can pick a stat and there is no 'best' stat. Miami is 20th in rush yards/game allowed, 29th in pass yard, 27th in Total yds, but 12th in scoring. Miami has a BAD habit of giving up big chunk plays. Missed assignments are killers

Offense has improved but defense looks like a huge liability still after all of the upgrades

Those chunk plays given up are the worst. Not even making the defense work for it. It seems to happen every few plays, at least in the passing game. As for the running game...it's mainly the linebackers not being disciplined.

For sure. Theres signs of improvement, and hoops keeps mentioning how Fitz is holding the offense back and I believe its true too. I mean how often is Fitzpatrick looking at one read, staring them down? Late to make a throw? One speed / style of a pass? Tua has shown strengths in all of those areas, albeit in college. I guess maybe Flores is afraid he goes in and gets hurt, but why release Rosen then? See what he has to offer / maybe recoup a pick for him later on..

The O line has been playing good enough and the RB is working okay, until behind the sticks. Some of these field goal drives end up in TDs with tua in there. No doubt. Someone posted a screen grab of Gesicki wide open (granted, its a still img), but I believe Tua hits him there instead of throwing it short.. Grant's production probably would go up as well.

The defense has improved on last year, but we still need a lot of help imo. The Front 7 is still weak. The DB unit should improve as they gel with each other and youngsters get better. I think I like Perry over Needham these days, random though.

I understand this is a rebuilding process but there's really no excuse for the defense to be as bad as it is right now.

If Flores has two straight years of abysmal defensive rankings it will be cause for concern.
