I just thought I'd give my thoughts about the Ricky to Denver situation.

If we can come out with a 2nd round pick for Ricky, most people would call it a win and good value seeming as we still have Ronnie, Sammy and Minor.

So would I.

But in saying that I think that there is a very real possibility that we will make the playoffs and at least reach the divisional portion of the playoffs. Now you might think that I am looking to far ahead seeming as the trade hasn't even occured.
But I think it is a real possibility that we face Denver in the playoffs next year, and to tell you the truth, behind Denver's O-line I really do not like our chances of stopping Ricky, whereas if we have Ricky I doubt Denver can stop our running game.

Also I do not think whoever we draft in the 2nd, 1st or 3rd round, whatever we get out of the trade if it occurs can do more than Ricky can do for us in the next 2-3 years whilst he is still a big running threat.

Just my opinion, if we trade Ricky and we meet them in the playoffs it will be extremely hard to stop Ricky and Bell behind that O-line even with 8-9 in the box.

With all the threads going on about this, why did you think your opinion deserved its own thread?

Can we please, finally, merge ALL the trade/don't trade Ricky threads into one?

I know, it's starting to give me a friggin headache. Ricky threads are taking up the entire main board it seems.

Not that the poster here didn't make some sense, but it should have been added to one of the other 126 Williams threads.

Well, you can't plan a trade or upgrade of your team based on who you might play sometime next season. If this trade goes thru, it'll be to upgrade the overall team. Lets say we draft a OL with that pick and the guy goes on to become our starting LT. That would be an important cog to our success next season, including any playoff teams. It may not be as important or as much an individual upgrade as RW would be to Denver, but overall, when you tie in all the FAs we acquire, all the draft picks....it could very easily be the difference that puts us into the next level of the NFL...

You can't compare the difference one guy makes on one team to another. Denver may add TO and RW and that would put them head and shoulders above us ?? (perhaps for one year or until TO blows the team up.) But it's just not the way you look at or evaluate trades.

I think I'll log off for about a week and come back after all the Ricky talk has died down.
