So the phins were cutting these people because they thought the CBA wasnt going to happen? So now that it looks more and more likely it will that new Cba will happen. This will only help us more..am i right?

Correct it should and will make the cap number for this year higher...

so sammy would have stayed if there was a Cba in place last week.

Possibly, but more likely those guys would have been gone anyway to get us under the projected 100-105 million dollar cap because we were way over more than expected with those 2005 incentives. Sorry, would like Sam to stay as well.

No I don't think so. I think Sam wanted more money than the Dolphins were willing to pay for his services. Like many arrogant corners, they all refuse to believe their skills are on the decline. He still wants his payday. Hopefully, no one gives him a big contract and we can sign him back to a decent contract.

That and Saban likes CB's that can tackle from time to time.

haha defintely wont miss his missed tackles as a running back runs for 60 yards because of his missed tackle

That and we need lots of cap space to sign Brees, a top FA tackle or center, and a whole new secondary!

i think we do sign a qb(hopefully brees) and also 2 solid O-Lineman but we will probably draft a cornerback in the 1st round

A new CBA will mean a larger cap - more money for the Phins to spend in FA, but more money for other teams as well.

Sammy was still under contract. We cut him because of the big cap hit we would've taken. It doesn't sound like we tried to restructure with him at all.

If an extension of the salary cap is completed, the Dolphins could create upward of $25 million in cap room.

They were not cutting these people because of the CBA, they would have cut them anyway.

Dont forget his Pass interference penalties as well. But hey Im not saying im glad he is gone because he's paid his dues as a dolphin for 9yrs. It's just that I wish he was the one that got traded last year instead of pat. Sam is pass his prime and unlike JT ZT he hasn't really produced like them constantly, and thats why Saban had to let him go along with his fat contract. It's time to move on and get new blood in the secondary.

Wally, I could be wrong, but I doubt that Saban had any intention of keeping Madison, Jones, Big Mac and Howard at the salary and cap hit they were at. I doubt the extension of the deadline or a new CBA would make much difference for these guys, as far as being on our roster...Now, it's possible he may open up negotiations and re-sign one or two if the price is where their value to the team is...

Actually, and I'm strictly guessing, but if the CBA is completed, I still think Gus will be a goner...Seau...perhaps not...My guess is that if a CBA is agreed on and the cap is the $104 mil figure, Gus will be kept on until we sign a FA QB (hopefully Brees, but who knows)....then he'll be cut loose...
