could it really happen ricky the starting rb.
let be realistic if ronnie brown struggles after this injury,
i could see ricky starting. will brown be the brown of last season or will the injury open the door for ricky?

I think Ronnie will be slow coming back. Ricky will get the chance but I wouldn't rely on him. We,ve all been burned before. Draft a running back in mid rounds for insurance and for a future sidekick with Ronnie.

it will happen if ronnie hasn't healed fully. and i for one have no problem with that.

He would have to be. We dont have anyone who is starting capable

I would be ok with Ricky starting if he has healed completely.
I am thinking a mid to late round running back, to learn from R&R. RIcky has a great work ethic so that will be good for a rookie to see. I am planning on Ronnie having a pro bowl year next year, so hopefully this is moot. Justin Smiley is known for opening holes, so lets see it!!!!

I still love Ricky. I hope he can. He will have lots of motivation and he only knows one way to run anyway IMO. Barring injury I think he has a real good shot of carryoing a major load for us this year until Ronnie is 100% and then Ronnie will have to win the job back. No one is garaunteed a starting position as of when Bill and company came in.

i doubt that we will carry 4 hb's when theres already a chance of keeping two fbs in reagan and grigsby. its gonna be ronnie ricky and lobo this year (i hope, as long as we dont get rid of ricky).

This is a deep running back class . . . and as much as I like Lorenzo Booker, he more than likely will always a be a change of pace back because he is so small . . . you can't seriously expect him to carry the full load ever in his career. With Ricky unpredictable and Ronnie unfortuately not going a full season . . . and Lbook's size . . . we do need to consider grooming another young RB.

Excellent post. This has been my feeling all along!

but with the draft this year? so many other holes bro. and let's be honest, isn't every RB draft class deep? i don't remember the last time i heard of a draft not having stellar RB depth.

i agree we will need a suitable back up for ronnie, but let's wait until next year at least. those draft picks this year are for defense, OL, WR and TE.

I think we will draft one as well. Ronnies job isn't safe anymore and Ricky is in a contract year and is 30 years old. Booker isn't a every down back either. Also NYPhan23, Grigsby is a converted LB that could provide depth in either position.

Honestly, as a fan, I dont think we need to . . . because I try not to think outside of the box . . . I want to believe that Ronnie wont get hurt anymore, even though he has in every one of his first 3 seasons. I want to believe Ricky stop smoking when more than likely he hasn't because he has burned us more than once. And u saw Booker last year . . . some of the sweetest moves in the game . . . but everytime he got hit, it seemed HARD and he just doesn't have the frame to do it every down.

But if Ronnie isn't healthy and Ricky gets suspended again . . . where are we? We have to pick up Gado and roll with Cobbs and Booker again . . . I understand what you are saying with the needs on D, OL, WR and TE . . . and I agree . . . but the team pays millions to GM's and Vice presidents to make conscious decisions . . . and Parcells loves his running backs.

I'm telling you, do NOT leave McFadden off of the draft board . . . I know its highly unlikely . . . but I wouldn't put money that he wont be the pick. Ronnie is in year 4 of 5 . . . BIG year for him . . . and if he gets hurt u have a stud waiting in the wings . . . or worse comes to worse you can trade either one . . . I mean I rather have Jake Long because of the run game he can bring . . . but this team needs TALENT every where, and running back is not excluded from that. If McFadden is their BPA . . . which I'm guessing we haven't shown interest so he probably isn't . . . they may pick him. Worse comes to worse . . . we line up Booker, Brown, Ginn, McFadden and Ricky . . . some in the backfield, some in the slot LMAO, that would be something to see lol.

All kidding aside, RB seems like we are fine on this team . . . but we are one ACL setback and drug test from disaster.

who would you leave out of your draft board to sacrifice for a RB? which position that we don't have a starter (that's worth a crap) would you give up for depth at the running back position? there is just no room for substitutions on my board.

I would not mind picking up mcfadden with the number 1 pick and trading ronnie for a 2nd or 3rd..
