Someone is getting stronger

I don't think Joe Montana ever lifted weights.. Kenny Stabler sometimes smoked and drank Booze the night before the Game..;) I hope him and Wallace are hanging out playing catch..

guys are bigger stronger and faster than they used to be and (obviously) he hit the turf 58 times last year... he is just doing what he needs to do to survive the season.

This is the key for being strong as a QB. Being strong is important because of the physical nature of the game. But most importantly let's hope he bust out on the field.

Joe did very little weight lifting but says he wished he had because it would have helped him overcome some of the injuries he had.

Many coaches during Stabler playing days didn't want their players lifting weights because they felt it slowed them down. Today with more sport specific training, weight lifting is no longer the taboo it was during the day of Vince Lombardi. I think you would be hard pressed to find any of the young qbs who does not lift weights.

If I got sacked 58 times I would try my best to look like the freaking Incredible Hulk too.

RELAX, He's holding 80's and he's in shape probably mid workout , that's what you look like.

He's weight lifting which does almost nothing for your arm strength in terms of throwing a football. On top of all of that a lot of players bulk up a lot around this time since you continuously lose muscle throughout the course of the season. I'll take Tannehill lifting in the off season over Jay Cutler being worthless or Colin Kapernick being a perv.

extra thought maybe he plans on running more this season? I for one hope so.

Lets not forget he is still as much a football player as a qb at this point. He isn't exactly the normal prospect in regards to athletic ability, and i don't just mean mobility as a running quarterback. We all know he played D1 receiver as well so the dude knows how to take care of himself and his body.

Lol only on finheaven...mad about a guy in the weight room in the off season...u guys are beyond ridiculous. Just love to complain about something.

Could be. But keep in mind that what one looks like when they are working out is nothing compared to what they look like two hours later.

He was using 80s last year..

****. I'm 5-11 200 and I can curl 60's. He should be about to curl 80's no problem.

First, Weightlifting is not purely about bulking up, it can be about keeping your body in top physical form. No one will dispute that some lifting does little to help someone throw a football, but developing your core and adding strength can help with fatigue allowing him to throw with power during the whole game. IT also great for injury prevention...for a player who is not only hit often int he backfield, but also has been asked to tote the rock from time to time and can only help. I also love how everyone assumes him holding dumbbells automatically means he is working upper body when there are numerous exercises using those that develop the core, explosive power, and the lower body.

Spending time in the weightroom with his teammates is a leader trait, showing he is wiling to put in the effort in all aspect of the game spending time sweating with his lineman, RB's, TE's Defensive players....lead by example...

Looks like a regular guy in a gym. Doesn't look weak, doesn't look anything like a body builder either.

Brady Quinn looked ripped too....a lot of people don't think a QB should bulk up the upper body much. I understand getting stronger but you don't want to lose the smooth range of motion. How many bulky MLB pitchers do you see? Powerful lower bodies, yes.

i'm kinda happy Tannehill doesn't shy away from weights. made him survive last season
