I thought this was very interesting and yet VERY scarey!

"(Parcells) He took Drew Bledsoe for the Patriots in 1993, then traded down twice when he was with the Jets in 1997 after Peyton Manning elected to stay for his senior year at Tennessee."

Thank god Manning stayed for his senior year. Could you imagine the thought of having to play against Brady AND Manning twice a year..

Before 2002 we did have to face Brady and Manning twice a year.

Lol.. Good point.. Well we can trash this thread. (although in from 98 - 02 we were much more competitive than we are now).

no need to trash the thread...still very interesting...never put two and two together...I couldnt even picture Peyton as a Jet.

well 'before 2002' only really amounts to 2001, since Brady didn't first play until then. But man, what a tough year. Oh wait....we were 3-1 against the Pats and Colts that year.

The Jets are a bunch of what-if's when it comes to HOF quarterbacks....

Remember the clip of the Jet fans at the draft after they took Ken O'Brien over Dan Marino....what if

In 1991, the Jet GM (Ron Wolf) I think had Brett Favre as the #1 overall player on their board....not just #1 QB, #1 overall player. But the Jets had used their #1 pick in the Supplemental Draft on Rob Moore. They have a deal in place with the Cardinals to trade up in front of the Falcons to get Favre....but the Cards back out at the last minute (for some scrub DB) and the Falcons take Favre....what if

Then Peyton Manning goes back to school when you have the #1 pick....what if.

Makes me smile just thinking about all that!!!

Remember when the dolphins could have drafted Randy Moss but elected to trade out of the pick?

We never had a chance to draft Randy Moss because Jimmy Johnson traded the pick to the Packers a day or two before the draft.

We did. We traded the #19 overall pick before the draft to Green Bay for the #29 and #60 overall picks.

The Worse Trades in Miami Dolphins History Part II

Gutierrez rips this deal because trading down to the 29th cost Miami the chance to take Randy Moss (who went 22nd). However, Jimmy Johnson said he wouldn't have drafted Moss. He wanted a running back and he thought John Avery was the man. So he traded down, got an extra pick, and later traded the extra pick for more picks. Classic JJ.

That was the year they took Keyshawn first overall, wasn't it? I'm wondering if they would have chosen differently if Manning was available, because I don't recall how highly touted he was after his junior season.

remember the year eli, rivers, and rothlisberger all came out together. We traded ogunleye for booker and a pick(think 2nd). We should've packaged him and the #17 overall pick with whatever else it would have took to get one of those three QB's. I think rothlisberger went #11 or 12. That's what my plan of action would have been. We had already suffered through a couple years with pretty good defense and inconsistent QB play. But our organization pulls off moves like, swapping picks with minny for a fourth .....AARRRGGG.

THIS DRAFT IS WHAT KILLED(TEMPORARILY) THIS FRANCHISE!!

We lost our #1 overall two consecutive years and this is what they came up with ..I hate you Wannstadt

1a Vernon Carey (19) G/T Miami (Fla.) (from Minnesota in 2004 draft trade-up) 1b TO MINNESOTA in 2004 draft trade-up (20) 2 TO NEW ENGLAND for 3rd-round pick in 2004 (56) 3 TO GREEN BAY in 2004 draft trade-down (87) 4a Will Poole (102) CB USC (from Green Bay in 2004 draft trade-down) 4b TO MINNESOTA in 2004 draft trade-up (119) 5a TO BALTIMORE in 2004 draft trade-down (153) (from Green Bay in 2004 draft trade-down) 5b TO SAN DIEGO for LB Junior Seau (154) 5c Tony Bua (160) LB Arkansas (from Baltimore in 2004 draft trade-down) 6a Rex Hadnot (174) C Houston (from Atlanta in 2004 draft trade-up) 6b TO ATLANTA in 2004 draft trade-up (186) 7a TO ATLANTA in 2004 draft trade-up (219) (from New Orleans for LB Derrick Rodgers) 7b Tony Pape (221) T Michigan 7c Derrick Pope (222) LB Alabama (from Baltimore in 2004 draft trade-down)
