Not trying to open old wounds, or dwell on the past ... but watching Matt Ryan in this game reminds me once again how we missed out on him in 2008, and as always hindsight is 20/20. And of course, his success in Atlanta ... it wouldn't be guaranteed if he did the same in Miami.

However, if Matt Ryan does happen to win the SB this year ... would that be the final "nail in the coffin", or final "validation" of Bill Parcell's failure in Miami when he was here in 2008-2010?

I'm happy where we are with Gase now, looks like were on the road to recovery ... but looking back on the last 8 years, would a SB win by Matt Ryan ultimately validate Parcell's failure in Miami? Just something I thought of a few hours ago.

Odds are if Matt Ryan had signed with Miami he would have bolted as soon as his rookie deal was up. I couldn't see why any qb would have wanted to stay through the mess the team has had. And the olines and offensive systems Miami has had would have resulted in a lesser version of the qb you see on the field today in my opinion.

If you need a SB win by Matt Ryan to validate the fact that Parcells' tenure here was a total failure, I don't know what to tell you.

I hear you but Jake Long was the correct pick at the time. Parcells only failure was handing the reigns over to Ireland. Long was on a hall of fame pace until he got injured. Also Ryan would not have survived behind our oline at the time. Despite a great season, I'm still not a Matt Ryan fan and I would take Tannehill over him any day. But I'm sure a lot of you will disagree with that lol.

Only thing i thougbt of was that free safety for seattle tonight may be as bad as baccari rambo

Its not that I "need it" ... we all know his tenure here was a failure. Maybe I worded it wrong ... maybe a SB win by Ryan would put Parcells failure here "over the top".

Geez ... sorry I brought it up.

ryan is a good QB and par-smells ego was too big to take a chance on a QB at no 1 or 2 or whatever we picked. If ryan busted, he wouldn't have to hear about it. Instead he went all 1977 w a big LT. Parcells was past his time when he came here.

Matt Ryan is the reason Arthur Blank wears a 3-piece suit and not a wifebeater. He's the reason they built that new stadium.

Ok but the plan was to take flacco at 32. Do you really see a big difference between Ryan & flacco? I can tell you don't agree but parcells is a football genius IMO. I know things didn't work out but you're playing the result. We couldn't afford to miss on the #1 pick and we didn't . We had to make the safe pick at the time. The problem with parcells was that he was never all-in. He just turned it over to Ireland/sparano.

Arthur Blank did a fine job in selecting Dan Quinn and Kyle Shannahan. It was the coaching that has elevated the Falcons.

Jake Long was actually a great pick and was playing at a HOF level for us before the injuries. What really hurt that pick was not the FO (that's a whole different problem), but Sparano refusing to shut him down because he liked Jake's warrior spirit or whatever bs he said all those years ago. Long was never the same after that
