Hey guys, i was at a party last night and i was talking someone that i had met at a party who happen to be the best freind of Seahawks 5 time Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson. He was telling me about how Hutchinson was a FA next year and that if they don't sign him back he would more than likely love to play for Miami because he is from here. He played his High school ball in Coral Springs and would absolutely love to come back to his home. Any Thoughts?

I would do anything to get that guy. He would give us that one veteran type needed player on our offensive line. Man i hope we can get him.

i would be all for it, provided he doesn't ask for big money.

He WILL ask for "big money"........he's the #1 OG in the whole friggin' NFL! Just look at what Damien Woody got paid last year. Hutchinson will be paid MORE.
But Hutchinson's probably worth it....

He'll be playing for Seattle next year, however.
Seattle will either:
1) sign him to a long-term deal in the offseason; or
2) franchise him.

They cannot franchise Alexander in 2006 (per their agreement with him).
Thus, they will be able to use it on him....if they have to.

I don't think they will franchise him. That will cost them over 8 million dollars to franchise him.

I agree. I think they will attempt to sign him to a long term deal. If he doesn't agree, they will let him test the market and offer to match whatever offers he gets.

It will never happen, it's a nice thought, but will never happen. He's the best guard in football not only will he want the money to match , but Seattle won't let him go. If they can't reach an agreement they will just franchise him. This is the one FA I have no faith in landing.

I'm starting to wonder why so many people are saying things like "if the price is not too steep" and "for the right price" in relation to Hutchinson. This guy could eventually be a hall of famer -- you don't want to pay for that?

Personally I'm all for paying guys what they're worth.

I agree...he'd be a huge upgrade from what we have.

Probably a good bet. He's an elite LG and I'd love to have him, but will he play for us for the money that we'll offer. It won't be as high as other teams will offer for him. Remember, practically the first thing out of Saban's mouth last offseason was that the OL was the 'most coachable' position in football. Will he put out the $10 mil that Hutchinson is surely to be offered ??

One lineman isn't going to change that much...Sure I'd take him and all but...wasn't Jeno James supposed to be the answer at LG? He's certainly getting paid to be the answer...we would obviously have to get rid of Jeno and spend maybe an extra couple of millions to get em. Jeno hasn't really been the same guy he was in Carolina
