While watching dolphins games last year my buddy and I would always say that it seemed like our players played with no passion or fire. With the exception of a couple of guys (Wake, Starks, Grimes etc... there was not much emotion on the field. With many of the new signings it seems like hickey\philbin are looking for guys that play with lots of passion and fire. Delmas, Finnegan and now Moreno all play with an attitude that can't be taught. I'm an optimist football coach and i would always tell other coaches that some players just have those traits that you can't teach. I watched a game where Moreno ran for like 10-12 yards and got a first down, broke some tackles and at the end of the play he low crawled a few more yards as if he was an army grunt on the front lines of battle. All the great teams have key players with that kind of attitude. I watched delmas fly around and run into people as if getting hurt was the last thing on his mind. And we all know hoe confident and scrappy finnegan plays. Even when he wasn't that good he still played with a ****y confidence. I like the moves we're making and I'm hoping we continue to look for those type of players in the draft.

It seemed like some of the guys we let go weren't bad players but just didn't have that passion hickey was looking for. Carroll, while much improved last year didn't strike me as being confident in his abilities. Solia was good, but he seemed to be playing just to collect his paycheck and go home. Maybe it was the culture ireland created but the players need to feel like they are apart of something, like this is their team. I really hope hickey changes the culture.

I don't think Hickey would have let Reggie go, cuz he personifies the skilled and passionate team player who casts a positive reflection on the franchise. I was pissed when Ireland let him leave although Bush made it clear he wanted to stay and likely would have been flexible. It would have been nice to see Reggie and special "K" in the same backfield with Miller on standby.

Now that would've been a nice backfield!

EXACTLY... players like R Bush are exactly the type of players we need, B. Marshall had that attitude as well but Ireland couldn't take his alfa male personality.

True and another sad part about it all was we didn't take full advantage of all of his strengths IMO. I wonder with a differnt OC in place if it would have been a differnt story. Oh well its all water under the bridge at this point.

Lets not forget Marshall was nuttier than a squirrels breakfast.

Imagine BM & Richie running wild... All anti-psychotic medication would have to go straight to Dade & Broward Counties.

Couldn't agree more. This team has hardly any passion and Moreno deff brings us some attitude running the ball. I'm a huge fan of his. Hope we continue into the draft as we had in free agency and bring in more that play with passion.

I think the move to bounce Marshall out was all on Philbin

Good point OP. I had noticed the "hungry players" trend with Finnegan and Delmas, but I kinda forgot how much passion Moreno plays with. Remember his water fountain tears last playoffs?
There's been so much dysfunction with our team in recent years, plus a lack of real identity on offense and defense that I seem to forget these guys are playing what can be a very emotional team sport.
I did see great flashes of inner strength with Tannehill, Wake, Hartline, Clay, Gibson, and Grimes last year, so I know there's some semblance of soul on the team, but there needs to be more players like that, especially when you've got Philbin relatively quiet most of the season. Ellerbe, Wallace, Reshad Jones, Pouncey -- these guys need to step up and be real leaders, they have the talent to do so. I hope Philbin also steps up his role and starts to be more active. Hopefully Bullygate has sent the message to him that he also needs to do a better job with focusing the team and keeping them hungry for a win.

Totally agree with OP. See last 2 games of the year with playoffs on the line. We were dead.

i agree but on the Delmas addition is he really gonna be an upgrade over Clemons yet to be seen i think Clemons was solid and kinda underrated he wasnt spectacular but he was consistently good and very good at times

Moreno is even passionate about getting up after being tackled. I like the signing and especially to a one year "prove it" deal. It is nice to see this team picking up these type of players. We need to sign a good RT and we will have so much latitude in the draft.

If there is nothing serious linked to Desean, Which I think might be a hope, He is the type of contract we have signed over the last few yrs. It is easy to say to DJW look what we did with Grimes, come here no state tax, sign a 4 million 1 yr deal and if you have a great yr we will pay you. DSJ.Wallace,Hartline we would find out a lot about our qb
