Something lost in the drama today- FG not attempted with 10 minutes left in the game
Let me preface this by saying that I think we saw some very good things out of this team, especially the performance of Ronnie Brown, who to me seems like the best football player on the field. To come back from that injury and still have that quickness is great to see. I also see this organization being revamped, the old Cameron / Saban players don't seem to fit in here. Ginn is a huge disappointment as is Hagan. It is really nice to see Camarillo and Bess make clutch catches, and I think we all can agree that we STOLE, yes STOLE Fasano. I was too impressed with Jake Long, especially when the Jets rookie DB was the one that really looked like a top 5 pick...
Ok now to the reason for this post.. And nearly ALL coaches do, nearly all coaches need to stop doing it.. 4th down with 10 minutes in the game, down by 13.. Which odds are better? Taking the 3 assured points or going for it on 4th when the entire D knows you are going to be throwing the ball? Imagine how much easier the scenario would have been at the end of the game if we could have played for a tie.. I HATE when coaches take the risk on 4th down when they need the points, 10 minutes is a long *** time in the NFL.. I'm not going to ***** slap Sparano about it, but every NFL coach should watch the tape today. I'm sick of screaming at my TV every time they go for it, especially when I know later on that it could have been the difference to win the game.
