Walking in to my Starbucks and Dan Marino pulls up in a Mercedes SUV and parks on the curb right in front of the door. The timing is such that we both walk up to the door together, so it's my honor to hold the door open for the legend. He tried to wave me in first, but I insisted. I didn't go all nuts or anything, just said good morning, how are you Dan... He was cool.

Should have told him to move his car...that's not a parking spot.

Great story glad you got to meet Dan. I once meet with wife and son at McDonald's when my Dad and I and drove up to Canton to see Dan inducted to the Hall of Fame.

It was actually really cool as my buddy's great great grandpa was inducted into the HOF the same year Dan was. He was able to get an Autograph ball for us signed by Dan and Steve Young.

The worst part of the story and I always remind my dad about this... There was some dinner after the ceremony and my buddy said he could get us in to meet Dan. It was late and we had a 7 hour drive back and my dad had to be up early for work so we did not go.

Would that be the one just west of The Sawgrass on Griffin Rd? (Over the years I've seen a couple of players there as it's the one nearest Southwest Ranches)

I talked to Dan while he was still starting QB for the Fins back in the early 90's.
I was target shooting at Markham Park in west Ft Lauderdale, and while me and a buddy were shooting, I could hear a full auto weapon going off next door at the police range. Sounded pretty cool.
Later while we were leaving, and loading up our trunk with our gear, I noticed Dan Marino and a uniformed BSO walking toward us with the BSO carrying an full automatic weapon.
As he was walking behind my car, I turned to him and said "Hey Dan...great game last week". He seemed friendly and slowed down to talk but the BSO was trying to move him along (Weapon in his hands). Anyway, he smiled and said thanks.
