Why does it seem that there are a few fans and opposing fans who call last season's 6 game winning streak overrated? I dont get it, the only game in that stretch that was not a real win was the Pats game at the end when they played Cassell. That still leaves us with 5 games we won, and a win against San Diego on the road when SD was in a must win. People who are dismissing the dolphins finish are not seeing the point - SABAN OVERACHIEVED BIG TIME WITH LAST YEAR TEAM, GETTING MORE TALENT OUT OF THAT GROUP THAN PROBABLY EXISTED, SO IF HE OVER ACHIEVES WITH THIS YEARS TEAM I DO NOT SEE HOW THE DOLPHINS WONT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Futhermore, coaches are not expected to overachieve in their first year especially when the main goal was to evalute talent. Bottom line is that Saban is a great coach and the sky is the limit. Any thoughts?

if u search this forum the 6 game winning streak been talk about many times.

Not to over look the fact they were the only team to win 6 at the end and not make the playoffs..Only other team to do that was the 59 Bears back when it was the AFL..GO FISH

That's correct, but obviously he haven't read them ,does he?,if you look more you will find that he is new in this, so next time try to be a little more helpfull and don't answer threads that are dumb to you.

A lot of the negative I read abou that win streak is because most the competition was weaker. It was good to see the team play consistently the second half of the season, but honestly I think they were a 9-7 team last year. And if they hadn't been so inconsistent the first half of the season who knows where they could have gone. But of course I'm in the minority because I think they were a 9-7 team in 04 also and if it hadn't been for an implosion on offense due to several factor they would have been 9-7. We lost serveral games strictly due to Int. returned for TD's alone. So I feel Saban had the talent to go 9-7 and he acheived that but by no means do I believed he overacheived last year.

The six game win streak was a result of the mental toughness that Saban has brought to this team. For many years the Dolphins have been good, but lacked the mental toughness to win in the post-season. They have been oh so close for so many years, and that has been the most frustrating part of being a Dolphins fan. Watching those Bills teams go to four straight superbowl was very painful, especially because the Dolphins were right there with them but seemed to always come up short. Then there was the Jesters winning 8 straight during a time when the Dolphins had clearly better talent but always shot themselves in the foot. Finally, the Dolphins have been close the Patriots for so many years but the Patriots just have had that mental toughness to overcome the Dolphins when it counts. Saban's six game win streak at the end of the season was the best thing that happened to the Dolphins in years. I don't care that they didn't make the playoffs, it was refreshing to see them win, against good teams, at the end of the season. As long as the OL can perform as well as last year, and the secondary can get their **** together, this could be a very good year from a team that appears to have finally found some toughess and mental fortitude. Thanks Saban, go Phins!

The streak is mainly criticized because:

1) Out of the 6 beaten teams, one was a NE team who either didn't care to win or wanted to lose (to face Jacksonville instead of Pittsburgh). There also were the Jets with Brooks Bollinger and Cedric Houston (I mean, please), the Titans, the Raiders, the Bills (who kicked our butts in the first half) and then the Chargers, who were the only team everyone agrees we stunned with our victory. However, outside of them and NE (again, resting starters, etc.) that's 4 teams beaten that ended up drafting in the top 10. That's not exactly a reason to celebrate.

2) Out of those 6 wins, we barely escaped the three divisional matchups, winning by a combined 7 points, IIRC. Not exactly a ringing endorsement that a supposedly good team can't beat (convincingly) supposedly bad teams (including NE's 2nd stringers).

Quite frankly, I agree with both. I'm not saying that the Dolphins weren't a 9-7 team last year, I'm saying that "the streak" that everyone points to as a definite sign of this team "finishing strong" and carrying that into next season. Maybe it was just luck balancing itself out.

I actually fully expected us to get creamed by the Raiders. So did a lot of analysts. But I do have to say that winning 6 NFL games in a row is impresssive, and it shows that had we not layed some duds in the first half we could have been a playoff team. The difference between the first half and the second half is that guys learned how to make the plays required to win the game. We were one bad play away from winning against the Patriots, the Bills, and the Falcons in the first half. We didn't make those mistakes.

I guess I'm one of the few who hated that streak since it cost us Jay Cutler. I also think it was slightly overrated and I emphasize slightly. I think we'll be better this year and I'm not sure we can get past 10-6 this year.

Every fan of another team (ESPCIALLY the Pats, trust me I know from much experiance) is trying to find an excuse to down the Dolphins. Every one does it, I always try to find ways to see why the Pats won't beat us.

But you are right, a 6 game winning streak in the NFL is impressive no matter what the circumstances are. I don't care we had beaten the 49ers 6 times in a row, that is hard to do. Every team will have a few games where they just aren't clicking on that particular day. To win 6 games you have to either be firing on all cylinders, or find a way to scratch out a win. To me, the steak had everything, a big upset, a huge comeback, a defensive domination, and individula breakout game and a cold weather win. No matter what any one says, we won those 6 in a row and that can't be taken away. It was a great streak.

And if anyone says we beat weak opponents, just ask them what happend when Denver and Carolina came to Miami.

While the streak was against mostly weak teams, it set a tone for what Saban was trying to get across to his players, and set the stage for a LOT of optimism for us Phin Fans, so how can that be a bad thing?

honestly, does it matter at this point? We are just a couple of weeks away from starting the season. The 6 game winning streak gave most of us hope during the offseason, and perhaps some found less hope due to those reasons stated, but the offseason is over now. How good...or bad we are percieved to be will be based on how we play against Pittsburgh....not how we finished the 2005 season.

Who cares that the streak was against mostly weak teams? The Patriots made the playoffs by beating mostly weak teams. In fact they only had 3 wins the entire season that were against teams that ended up with winning records (Fins, Steelers and Bucs). We had 2 in the final 6 games alone.

Ummm...the Bears were never in the AFL, and the AFL's first year was 1960.
