On Miami Herald.com i saw an interesting QUOTE from our own Defensive coach. this is what he had to say
" The reason is to let them both play and let them both develop,'' Pasqualoni said. ``They're both young players. You can't develop as a young player in this league if you're not on the field. It's for the development of two young players.''
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/story/1239180.html

Pasqualoni is obviously taking about our two rookies Smith and Davis, but this got me thinking about the other side of the ball.

Chad Henne was drafted last year to later become our starting qb which is still the idea today. Tony fills henne is not the right man for the job just yet, but how can tony develop this young player and evaluate this guy is the right man for the job if he is not playing?

Now i truly believe that experience is the better tool to have when it comes to qb's, but whether you believe in Pennington or not you can not ignore his arm strength and his confidence in it is a big problem for this offense.

Now Pennington works hard to make sure to make smart plays and throws as accurately as you want a qb to throw. Also Pennington surely will not have the success as he had last year even though he is more experience with this new offense.

Now most people will read me wrong and say this guy wants henne in and penny out and you can not be anymore wrong. Pennington is without a doubt the best qb we have had sense marino.

What i do think is Henne needs to put into real game with pressure like when we are behind but still have a change or other less pressure situations to evaluate if Henne has what it takes or at least what he needs to work on to become and elite qb.

Something Tony might need to take this that to into this need to take into consideration.

I agree with Pasqualoni, but I'd follow Sporano into the pits of Hell. I trust his judgment.

If you put Henne in and he struggles it's like your throwing away the season. It wouldn't be fair to the players, fans, or coaches to do that to the team. If you have nothing left to lose than you throw him in. Take for instance the Tony Romo situation. Bledsoe was costing them games so they had to put in Romo.

if we had champ bailey, corey webster, and nnamdi asomugha on our CB depth chart our rookies wouldn't be seeing playing time either.

it's all relative to talent, that's the difference.

While it is true that a young player needs to play to develop, you are not comparing similiar situations. A CB has no responsibility for lining up other players and calling coverages. That is the responsibility of the safety. If a CB has talent, then there is limited downside to playing him. A young safety can cause the entire secondary to blow their assignments. A young QB has even more responsibility than the safety in the defense. Pasqualoni quote has no to limited correlation to discussions about Henne.

Note: I am not saying that Henne should or should not play. I am saying you are using a poor example.

I was waiting for this thread after I read that yesterday.

Simply put.. Henne isn't on the field because they don't feel they can win with him.

As the saying goes... you play to win the game...

Henne isn't on the field because they're sticking to the plan. Period. End of discussion.

Him being ready or not is a side issue. Even if he were ready, they wouldn't deviate from the plan unless forced to. I think we're well aware that, refreshingly, this is a stubborn regime that will do things according to the PLAN they have mapped out. As they have clearly stated, Henne is the man for 2010, and he may get an early start in 2009 if we're out of playoff contention.

That is the clearly stated plan. I'm not sure why some of you expend so much energy debating Henne one way or the other when we already know he is going to sit this year!

To make my point clear i dont want henne to to be our starter i just want to see him in a real game with little but of of pressure on him.

The offense needs continuity not a rotation that throws timing off.
But your ok with them throwing Pat in putting the game on the line to see if he can?

The difference is Smith and Davis have talent.

From what i have seen so far with henne i will agree with you there.

The one thing i like more then anything else about this team right now is that ever sense don left our head coach and FO has been a down point of this team, but now we got one to be proud of. I love their style and attitude and I may write out what i think about this and that, but whatever tony/jeff/and bill thinks of i will go through Brick walls like JT said.

And does it really matter we say any way whether it makes sense or not coaching staff if your luck may listen if you catch them wall down the street but does not mean they will use it

Only thing i want for henne is the get real game day experience before we cut ties with pennington. Something henne, penny, and tony can look at.

Does it really matter what we say anyway, whether it makes sense or not? If you saw the coaching staff out in public and shared your opinion they might listen if your lucky but it doesn't mean that they will use your idea.

As they have clearly stated, Henne is the man for 2010, and he may get an early start in 2009 if we're out of playoff contention.
I guess while we are on the topic of staying with the plan.. What are the chances of penny staying when henne becomes a starter in 2010? Personally i dont think he will stay at all, but you never know.

Sparano, Ireland, Parcells know so much more about football then anyone on this board. And when i say so much more, i say light years more, that is why you will never ever see me questioning their judgement.

Matt Millen knows more than anyone on this board....

So nobody should have questioned him?

Your signature is embarrasing to the Miami Dolphins fan base. Pretty amazing how quickly one can forget the difference between making and missing the playoffs last year was Chad Pennington. You are the perfect example of the over dramatic fans on here. It's 1 game out of 16 guys. Yet your already ready to throw Penny under the bus because his tight end fumbled 2 times.

I love finheaven, but I seriously have questioned several times throughout the week why I continue to come back and listen to all the doom and gloomers. Keep hating on Pennington but when he wins us games, you'll be right back on board supporting him... :foundout:
