Anyone worried about Ronnie struggling in the dreaded 2nd season? I know the Bucs seem to have gone out of their way to insure Caddy stays on track as much as possible. Lots of O-Line help, new big physical TE's and a big athletic WR know for being a good run blocker on the outside. Plus we still have Pittman and Alstott just in case.

I haven't noticed a lot of effort being put in by the Fins to protect their investment in RB. Your O-Line (which wasn't horrible, but wasn't exactly good either) is basically the same and Minor and Morris aren't what I would call 'exciting options' if RB struggles or (God forbid) gets hurt.

So is anyone worried that the Fins haven't done enough to protect themselves from the dreaded "Sophmore Slump"?

We are expecting the EXACT opposite.

Factors:

1) Ricky leaving will be a good thing, Ronnie like Ricky gains on momentum
2) Fred Beasely
3) Hudson Houck
4) Mularky

like I said, Sophmore Sensation, not slump. Best to you, Chucky Caddy & da Bucs.

I'm not worried. Ronnie is poised to have an awesome season. He looks stronger, more confident, and he will get more carries. The O-line has helped with the addition of Shelton (possibly Toledo) and is entering its 2nd year under coach Houck. Finally, we got Beasly in FA (one of the best moves of the offseason) to open up some wide lanes for Ronnie. Yes, I'd say we are looking fine.

Our O-Line wasn't good? As a team we were tied for 7th with YPC and 4th in sacks given up. Much better than Tampa Bay's OL.

Ronnie isn't going to be in a slump. He's going to have a great season.

*Sigh*

Another uninformed Bucs fan.

Our offensive line is better than yours. We signed L.J. Shelton as a left tackle, which is an upgrade to Damion McIntosh.

We still have Hudson Houck, the best line coach in football, who, I don't know if you noticed, turned our line into a steady bunch last year. The Fins were 4th in the entire NFL in least sacks allowed and opened holes all year for Ronnie and Ricky.

We signed Justin Peele, a good blocking TE to back up Randy McMichael.

Oh, and that little extra bonus of, you know...GETTING A QUARTERBACK will help.

Say goodbye to teams stacking the box against the Dolphins. With Daunte launching them downfield to Chambers and Booker and hitting Randy Mac over the middle, lanes will be wide open for our beast of a runner, Ronnie Brown.

You said something about a fullback? We signed Fred Beasley, one of the best run-blocking fullbacks in the NFL.

Now, let's get to Brown himself.

He missed training camp last year because of a holdout. Not the case this year. He's added muscle and weighs 235 lbs. right now. Rock solid, too.

Here's a guy who is 6'0", 235 lbs. and runs a sub 4.4 40 time. He's WAY more equipped to carry the load than Caddy is.

The only reason Caddy won Rookie of the Year was because he was THE guy in Tampa. Ronnie shared the rock with Ricky. Ronnie had a higher yards-per-carry than Caddy did and more receiving yards.

Hate to break it to you, but there's a reason we picked Ronnie 2nd overall in front of Cadillac. He's just a better football player and you'll find that out this year when Ronnie Brown is the focus of the Dolphins' offense.

Actually, we have made a good effort to help support Ronnie. We signed LJ Shelton as our LT which will definatly help out the run game on the left side...

And probably our biggest (and quietest) pick up of the offseason was Fred Beasley... which is a dramatic upgrade... and will open alot of holes for Ronnie...

Fred Beasley will help Ronnie get 1000 yards and maybe more. Big signing by the Dolphins.

Ronnie Brown could get 1,000 yards with the Dhali Lama as his fullback.

If you are expecting only 1,000 for Ronnie this year, you will be in for a huge surprise.

Damn DD... a little defensive, huh?

if ronnie stays healthy i'll have no concerns of our running game. We'll be extremely effective. just look at him he looks like Jim brown out there.

Alright, settle down. It's funny how many people on this board last year repeatedly said the Bucs had a better O-Line than the fins. I never agreed with that statement as I thought our O-Line was horrible. To say you had one of the BEST is a reach as well though. You had a VERY expirienced QB who may not have been the most physically talented guy in the world, but he knew how to get the ball out of his hands when the pressure came. That make a lot of difference.

Houck-best O-Line coach in football? :rolleyes2 I'm sure at least 10 teams have fans who claim the same thing.

Fred Beasley is an excellent pick up. I don't know EVERY move the Fins made. THAT'S WHY I'M ASKING NOW.

As for Ronnie and is slow start/ hold out, most FinFans seem to throw that out as an excuse for Carnell getting the jump on him, but let me ask you, who's fault was it that Ronnie held out and Carnell didn't? RB made a choice to demand more money, Carnell made a choice to keep his word and be in camp on time. Don't be mad at me or the 'Media bias' because Ronnie's holdout him (and the team) some production.

Sophmore slumps, for whatever reason, seem to happen. If it didn't, there wouldn't be a name for it. Even when all indications are that a player should be able to keep going strong, injuries (Just ask Michael Clayton) play a part, as does a renewed focus by opposing defenses and lots of other factors.

No it's not a reach. I gave you the stats.

Where do you get this sophmore slump stuff from? LT had one of his best seasons his second year.
