i dont know if this has been posted... i havent really been payin attention to the situation as much as all of you have but.. if ricky comes back how much will he get paid and what would the salary cap look like?

Minimum salary. Would hardly affect us.

I think they will pay him about an ounce of weed per game. It shouldnt be that big of a cap hit because theres a lot of weed in miami so it is pretty cheap, roughly about $100 a game.

under is old contract
i think clumpy said around 3.5 million per year for 05, 06, 07.

They should put a marijuana plant in the endzone we are trying to score in so it hypes Ricky up. Hand him the ball, point out that plant and let him roll. Nothing will be able to stop him.

Seriously though, he won't get what he originally was scheduled to get which was something like $3-4 million, but he will probably make more then the vet min. I see something around $.8 - $1 million with a bunch of incentives.

Do you think Ricky will renegotiate his contract? It would be foolish on his part if he did because, unless I'm mistaken, he is still under contract tha will pay him around 3.5MM a year. I will say that if he does sign a new contract for much less money as you suggested, it's a good sign that he truly isn't playing for the money.

Would we take him back if he didn't renogiate? :confused2

See, that's the point. He didn't come crawling back to us. Saban put out an invitation which he will likely accept. Those circumstances lead me to believe that we are willing to keep Ricky under his old contract and Ricky knows that he doesn't have to take a pay cut. My gut tells me that Ricky will play a couple more years at his current salary, then retire (again).

Man, I would really be mad if he came back at his current salary. That would put us in a real damper because two high priced RBs is going to limit us from signing other FAs. I hope they re-work his deal and make it very have with incentives.

You're right, bro. We are not in the best position for negotiating, so long as we want Ricky back. On the flip side, even if Saban had not asked Ricky back, and Ricky had a change of heart and 'un-retired', I believe he'd still be under contract (since we retained his rights), and we'd have to either pay him, cut him or trade him.

I hope I'm wrong, because, like you pointed out, it appears as if we narrowly escaped a bad cap situation only to dig ourselves in again.

I'm hoping Ricky restructures, but I really don't see anyway of him taking the VET MIN. He's probably looking to come back to his old salary, but I think that price will get knocked down a little, but yes I still think it may end up hurting us CAP wise and limit us from signing other FA's.

I dont remember the show it was one of the ESPN or NFL network shows but they said that there were stipulations in the contract and that if he came back it would be for the vet minimum.

If we do end up getting Ricky back, I hope that, that is the case! I think it would a very low risk (nothing to lose) situation if we get him back for VET MIN (like we did with Boston)! :rawk:
