Miami has Grime at one CB, end of story. At the second CB, I expect a battle between Taylor and Finnegen, with Davis a long shot for playing time. I'm hoping for Taylor to win the job but, we shall see.

As far a slot coverage, in spite of what some here think of him, Wilson played very well. He ranked #7 by PFF, and higher at #3 from NFL in giving up a QB rating of only 61.8 with 2 picks in slot cover.

Then there is Finnegen, who also is VG vs the slot if he does not beat out Taylor at starting CB.

How do you see this shaking out?

I think what I'd like to see is 1. Grimes 2. Taylor and slot is rotational between Finnegan and Wilson...because that mean Taylor earned his snaps and I want to see him develop.

Honestly, I haven't seen enough of Taylor more so than Davis manning the other CB spot to be comfortable at all. My last memory of Davis was in the NE game when he had to come in for Grimes. It was not pretty! Brady abused the hell outta the kid and we got lucky on a few. Based on that brief observation I'm not sure he's a starting NFL caliber DB.

Taylor has played so little snaps that I'm not sure what to make of him.

Overall, right now I'm much more comfortable going the veteran route. Hopefully the young kids can prove me wrong with a strong showing, especially Taylor!

SN: I personally think it was a mistake to let Patterson go. I understand his Salary # and injury history but you don't let DB's that are as talented as he is go when healthy.

There are a lot of snaps to go around in nickel and dime coverages as well. I'm wondering if moving Wilson to S could have any effect but, don't think so.

Yeah, impossible to get any kind of read on Taylor or Davis from last year but, I'm sure Coyle had some say in drafting them for his system. I may be wrong here in thinking that we signed Finnegen because Coyle had his doubts of Taylor starting full time, and wanted a vet security blanket.

I believe that we let Patterson go, knowing that we could sign Finnegen, and the team saw him as the better option. We shall see.

The other guy we are forgetting about is Michael "Big Play" Thomas, who had the best 16 snaps of any DB. He was a FA from the 2012 draft, and just turned 25. He did have a Phantastic Flash last year but, know nothing about him past that.

Well considering that Jimmy Wilson will have to be playing FS by week 6, I'll say (or at least hope) it'll be Grimes and Taylor on the boundary with Finnegan on the inside. But, I'm afraid we paid Finnegan too much to be a slot corner here.

Taylor is still a very talented prospect out of Boise State and has a lot of potential, and Will Davis was very raw coming out of college so I'm not sure what people expected when he went up against Tom freakin Brady.

And Michael Thomas is going to be fighting for a roster spot in general come training camp let alone a starting spot on the team. I'm not expecting him to make the team just because he intercepted Brady.

He was just a rookie and got thrown in against Brady..... It happens.

He'll get playing time this year just like last year because one of DB's will be hurt as usual.

Obviously, I'm not disregarding that at all. However, you shouldn't disregard it wasn't the first game he played were he looked completely lost. He's a rookie and I personally won't hold it against him. He still has ways to grow and improve, BUT early on it looks like that curve might be TOO MUCH for him to over come.

Most telling of all, I don't think he has the Metrics (Size and especially Closing Foot-Speed) to ever be a starter. There was a reason he was lining-up 10 yards of his man during the NE game. I personally think it had more to do with Physicality and especially Foot-Speed. Hence the large completion chunks(5,6,10 yards a pop!). I really hope I'm wrong but I don't see it.

His saving grace might be that he seems to have a knack for making plays on the ball (See the Preseason).

It was the end of the game playing with the lead. Every team in the league would tell their rookie CB stay off the receiver and give up the short ball and just dont get beat deep when playing with the lead against the leagues top QB.

He was and still is a huge project, most projections said this. He had trouble wrapping up in college, but was basically a receiver out there. His speed isn't that bad, he's just really raw. I wouldn't put much stock into how he looks his first 2 seasons. If by year 3 he still looks lost then he should be a goner, imo.

Too many corners on the roster were recently injured, so I expect to see him out there. Didn't like the pick when we made it, but it is what it is. He's a player with upside and should be looked at as a project, unlike a baller in Taylor that SHOULD be starting for us day 1 of the season.

And this

You gotta root for the pick- have to. Way it goes.

If Finnegan returns to old form, he's one tough SOB.

PFF = nonsense

Great to see that we have a forum analyst who knows more that the NFL blind stats, and PFF's every play eyeball test on slot coverage. So, tell me was Wilson just bad or really horrible in his 56 targets defending the slot?

*Sarc Attack lol
