Philbin should choose his own staff. They might all be good men or coaches, but they are tied to Sparano. Imagine if Gingrich or Romney win the upcoming election and had to keep some of Obamas staff. Just crazy. Ultimate responsibility for the product on the field remains with the HC, and he must trust his coaches to coach to his personal standards...Anyone know if the cleaning house includes training staff and doctors?

Please get rid of Bowles!! It makes no sense to keep him around - his unit underperformed most of the year. IMO you first hire your coordinators and decide on the system. Then you look for the best coaches that fit into that system. To me it makes no sense to get a good coach from one system and bring him in to learn a new system and then try to teach his players somethign that is new to him. If you are moving to a WCO then you get the best coaches you know for that system - period. If you move to a 4-3 same thing. At this point it really doesn't matter what system he runs on D - Bowles was terrible so he should be gone - clean sweep!

Tony can have his OL coach in NY - 4 years and still one of the worst lines in the NFL. That with being handed the #1 overall pick and your starting LT!!

now i REALLY love coach phil. dude is seeing what the vast majority of us have. get the losers and underachievers [eeh-hem, bowles] the heck outta here!! no time for bottom feeders. daboll, as far as i know, has no experiance in the WCO, and you cant have a newbie to that philosophy teaching it to a new team. but bowles is a loser as far as being a secondary coach. that makes perfect sense showing him the door.

DLOCKZ: how in the world out of this do you come up with, "he probably wants bowles back as a secondary coach, not a d/c."

WHAAAAT? so let me see if i understand this. he doesnt want bowles for d/c. why? maybe the FACT that he wasnt good with the secondary on ANY team he has coached for? that would make perfect sense as when anyone hires somebody, they look for SUCCESS in there previous positions.

the record shows bowles sucked donky sack as far as being a secondary coach. 3 teams, bottom of the nfl 3 times.

so what, philbin says to himself, "well, he sure sucked at the secondary, cant put him in control of a whole defense, so i will keep him on as a secondary coach where he was a COMPLETE failure at?"

YOU GOTTA BE FRICKIN KIDDING ME!!!

really DLOCKZ? you really think in all that, he wants to keep him around for secondary? the article said they are NOT RETAINING CERTAIN COACHES from the previous regime. nothing about "unless they want some other position".

what in the heck is with some of you guys and TODD BOWLES worship? i just dont get it.

i dont.

I never said I wanted Bowles back was just speculating that maybe he wanted him back as a secondary coach and not a dc. Our defense was pretty solid under these coaches , better than Green Bay's defense by far. As for bottom of the NFL thats quite an exagerration although Im not impressed with Bowles. Hell if they hire Trog he was a part of the worst defense in the NFL last year and I wonder how many would be saying great hire

Choosing a staff is HUGE for a coach. Cam Cameron would probably have failed anyways, but he had a bunch of coaches forced on him.

Or like when Jimmy Johnson had Howard Schnellenberger's holdovers forced onto him when he took the UM job in 1984. Didn't work out too well until JJ was able to bring his own staff in.

I dont remember all of our coaches but the one I know he was forced to keep was Capers who has been a good dc most of his career. I know he kept mularkey as TE's coach and say what you want about him, he is a good te's coach

Probably misinformation from another "source", or this source isn't so sourceful (yes i made that word up)

Well maybe it was he had to be open to Bowles not hire him. Who knows who cares what was said Philben over McCoy is a win anyday. I think in long run McCoy will be a good head coach but I think he may be waiting a little longer esp if Denver plays as bad as I think they will

Cleaning house is the way to go, not just on offence either but defence too.....Nolan is gone and Bowles is going and so is the LB's coach....Philbin needs his own staff.....I think is going to be a great offseason

Ozzy rules!!

I dont agree you have to clean house but you have to choose your own guys. Dont tell me keeping Nolan if he wanted to be here would have been a bad thing. I doubt we get a better established dc than Nolan. Now we may find a first time dc that will be better

I think that at this point all we can do is put our faith in our new head coach and hope for the best. trust his decisions. let him make the transition as easy as possible for himself... maybe we can get some quick results similar to some other teams this year...

i don't know. i'd prefer to keep competent coaches, like Kacy Rodgers, around instead of cleaning house just for the sake of it.

For Armando Sake, I hope half of this right. Because he's batting avg has been pretty poor lately. Including his make believe sources. As a matter of fcat he should get a new source..

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I'm PRETTY sure that Wayne told Cam to keep Mularkey on staff because he either didn't want 4th OC in 4 years or he didn't want to buy out Mularkey's contract.

Capers was kept, but was not allowed to run his defense.
