The Dolphins have interviewed New Orleans quarterbacks coach Pete Carmichael Jr. for their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coaching positions, a source said Tuesday morning.

Carmichael, 35, was San Diego's assistant wide receivers coach from 2002 to 2005 while new Dolphins coach Cam Cameron was the Chargers' offensive coordinator. Carmichael served as New Orleans' quarterbacks coach last season as Drew Brees passed for an NFL-high 4,418 yards while leading the Saints to the NFC Championship game.

About time he interviewed. Now we just need to hire him so we can complete our staff. It would be nice to have the staff complete and Mueller signed long-term before the Super Bowl.

I agree. Let's get the staff in place and get ready for F/A and the draft. It only makes sense that he goes with someone familiar with his coaching style, as Zampese probably would want to call his own plays and Cam has been very clear that he's going to be doing that. I think the OC will probably have a dual role since they are going to only be doing part of the OC role. QB & OC makes as much sense as anything else.

This is kinda old news. I posted this back when it was first reported on KFFL.com where he was a leading candidate when Garrett left. Granted it was as QB coach but you can pretty much wrap it all into one. Thanks again anyways for posting what ya found.....better to have more than less info....

Actually, the stories are different. The one you posted was that we were granted permission to interview him. This one states that we did in fact interview him.

Actually....the one I posted said he was a leading candidate...nothing about "granting permission" as seen below....but all in all....goes along the same concept right....

Dolphins | Carmichael leading candidate to replace Garrett

Harvey Fialkov and <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/166">Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, report New Orleans Saints assistant coach Pete Carmichael is the front-runner to replace Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach Jason Garrett, who left for the Dallas Cowboys this week.

Someone please clue me in. Last I heard Mularkey was staying on as the OC. Have things changed? I'm not a fan of Mularkey, but just wondering if I've missed out.

Mularkey is staying on, but in a different capacity yet to be named... probably the TE coach...

As far as I know....he is still on the offensive side of the ball but his duties have yet to be detailed by Cam....

I am thinking more ball boy or first down marker kid if you ask me.... He needs to be out of here truthfully and I think Cam is slowly phasing him out to the point where Mularkey may just leave because his role has diminished drastically....IMO.

Mularkey probably looks at Cameron as a mentor of sorts, and feels he can learn from him. He probably begged Cameron to stay on in some capacity instead of being fired / unemployed....

The TE's coach sounds like his calling for now, and as long as I know Cameron is calling the offensive shots, I wont be too critical of Mularkey staying on....

PHINZ RULE!!!

No, he's right... the fact that he's actually been interviewed is new. Your old article simply stated the obvious, that he's the frontrunner based on the fact we ask permission to interview him.

Leading candidate, but I don't see anywhere where it says he interviewed. Some Titans fans were led to believe last week that Mueller was the "leading candiate" for the GM gig. A week later, we find out he never interviewed.

This is new news no matter how you spin it.

Fine....I was wrong then. Hope that makes a few people happy.... No matter what the case is...new or old. I like the idea. I like how our coaching staff is rounding out and finally having some people on here where our offense can play to our players strengths.

Don't take it personally, some members around just feel it neceassary to nit-pick when pointing out certain information. "Old news" is a loose term around here because you hardly ever have time to post anything breaking to begin with....

News happens / travels fast around here, and if you're not first to report it, you're usually last to know. I use to try and break news, but it's far too difficult keeping pace with the crowd here. That's not a knock on the members, obviously they're on top of things around here, it's just a stressful way of going about your day when everything worth disscussion has already been beaten to death hours prior.....

Your news regarding Carmichael is equally as informative / important as the next person's news regarding the same issue. I usually just sit back, and let the news reporters do their thing. I prefer to comment rather than inform anyway....That's my take....

PHINZ RULE!!!!
