According to a high-ranking NFL source, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano is “certain” not only to make it through the bye week but to be coaching the team on Oct. 17 against the New York Jets.

The source would not characterize anything beyond that Monday night trip to the Meadowlands, but even getting one more chance to coach a team riding an NFL-worst seven-game losing streak (dating to last season) could be classified as a victory of sorts.

Any speculation will have to wait until after the Jets game.

7 games in a row.......and 11 of the last 12 at home. Its hard to believe its the Dolphins we are talking about.

Of course he won't be fired during the bye week.

It makes too much sense to put a new coach in place when he has more time to prepare the team.

Excellent.

THis guy gives us the best chance to lose games.

Good move.

THis season is already over guys. Changing coaches won't change the end result of a failure.

The bloodlust part of me wants him gone right now.

The practical part is pleased with this. Firing him now would do nothing for us. Keep him for as long as it takes for us to secure a top draft position.

Good...More FG's and fist pumps. You have to think that this team has or is about to quit on him so this is great news for everyone who wants Luck.

If he is fired during the season, it appears it will be at least half way through the season. I think he will get at least 8 games so Ross can save face.

If true this is insane. This is not about beating the Jets. This is about putting a hammer down on a putrid string of awful coaches. The final straw being one that actually goes out of his mind celebrating not getting a TD. One that has not addressed glaring weaknesses & failure to the ones he has addressed.

No heart, no leadership, no discipline. End this now.

Promoting a current coach to interim HC will not make this team better. We are stuck with Tony for a while, even if the season is lost.

understood, but accepting this dreck will sour any talent from looking our way. We look absolutely pathetic for tolerating this garbage. There is not improvement in one aspect of this team. In fact all has regressed. You think this is acceptable for 12 more games? That is nuts.
