It's the only move that makes sense. I used to think Alex Smith was a pretty stand up guy that can roll with the punches the fanbase and organization threw at him, but come on. Matt Moore hasn't said a word while we've chased Manning, Garrard, Smith, Flynn, etc. Alex Smith has a very fair, 3 year deal in front of him. That's three more years any team was willing to give him before last year. Just take the damn money and shut up.

Actually IMO Garrard is alot better than spending all that money on another mediocre QB. Not crazy about the injury recuperating Garrard but at least he didn't cost much

and Ireland has more money to waste on filling the depth charts
