Sources: Ireland suggested that Martin confront Incognito physically

This story has been so all over the place, I don't know what to think anymore.
I do believe Ireland may have said that, partly because of how dumb he is, but he may have not thought the complaint to be serious.
We don't know how "serious" the complaint was, but being in his executive position, he should have definitely handled it professionally.
If not, this will come back to bite him.

Tomorrow, we may find out it was all a conspiracy setup by TD to take the focus off of him for that botched "FG is Good" cheer!
Stay Tuned!

if Ireland did hear about this, knowing that martin is the little wimpy bitch he is, probably said something like "stand up for yourself, if he hits u u hit him right back" and I see nothing wrong with that.

He might deserve to be fired, but not because of that, even if it is true.

Right, but the article says "before Martin left the team".
e

So why wouldnt he deserve to be fired if it was true. You do realize that the Miami Dolphins would be the ones paying the price for such an ignorant and unprofessional handling of the situation

If that's the case then it makes all the more reason for Ireland to respond differently than he did.....

I'm all for Jeff Ireland getting fired, and I believe he said what is being reported.

But... I want context. Sorry, I want the FULL exchange this time. Not the edited version.

I am really getting fed up with all this moral outrage.

Wouldn't Mike Ditka have said the EXACT same thing?

or Don Shula?

or Bill Walsh?

or Vince Lombardi?

or Tom Coughlin?

Just who exactly is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO morally offended by this suggestion who is actually involved in professional Football or ANY PROFESSIONAL Sport?
.

Ditka 2 days ago said he would have told them to handle it the ole school way without blinking an eye.

Ditka, Parcells, Gruden, Lombardi, Tom Couphlin, Madden, Paul Brown, George Halas, Marv Levy, Jimmy Johnson, Chuck Noll, Hank Stram, Bellichick, Would have IMO.

Shula, Walsh, Tom Landry, Dungy, Shanahan....Maybe they would have.

1st Strike: Calling Dez Bryant's Mom a prostiture 2nd Strike: Ireland calls fan an ******* 3rd Strike: Ireland supports team violence.

1. Dez's mother was not only a prostitute, but a cheap, low end, crack smoking prostitute.

2. That fan was an *******, as it seems a lot of Dolphins fans are.

3. Of course he supports team violence. Its a violent sport. This isnt soccer. I hope we are very violent Monday night.

Now, this came from Golic, so take it how you will, but he said he got in a minor fight in Miami at practice and Shula heard about it and immediately called Golic in and wanted the whole story and had zero tolerance for that kind of stuff.
Golic also said he got in a few fights in Philly and there was no big deal made of that there.
So many personalities see things so many different ways...

This kinda makes Martin look like even more a little *****. Cry to your agent that youre getting picked on and ask himt o call your GM to make it stop... This should be a clip in "Comeon Man!"

And again nobody cares... Your Greatest affiliation with the team in an official capacity is on a fan forum... He is the GM... He represents the team in EVERY official capacity.

UPDATE 11:04 a.m. ET 11/7/13: A prior version of this story identified the agent as Rick Smith. It was Kenny Zuckerman, who works with Smith at the same firm. Also, a prior version of this story characterized the call as happening before Martin left the team. The call happened after Martin left.

Story updated. Because of course it is.

Now it happened after. Slightly better. Still doesnt excuse Ireland for suggesting a fight, if true.

That's a couple of major fact errors. Jeez.

Regardless -- assuming for a minute the content of the call is true -- it contradicts Philbin's timeline. Any complaint it can be shown the team received before Sunday about when they heard from Martin that he felt he was being harassed contradicts Philbin.
