Sources: Ireland suggested that Martin confront Incognito physically

Where do you draw the line indeed. Hitting someone with a helmet in hand not OK. Taking a swing at someone on the field with a bare fist, is that OK? Should you charge a player with assault for launching at a defenseless receiver with the crown of his helmet? What about pushing a guy down, isn't that assault as well?

Well you can start with what's considered part of the game and what isn't.

I never said it wasn't a job though and so far there has not been any report that says Martin tried to contact Philbin or anyone in a management position.

Please tell me you have not missed this?

Martin tried to find Richie to confront him, but Richie was... Incognito.

LOL no I didnt miss it, it's the thread we are discussing. My point is that Martin never went to anyone that we know of. His agent did on October 29th, after he left the team.

Read again article clearly states this was before Martin left

Did you guys ever read what Charles Haley would do to players in the locker room during his days as a Cowboy?

Did any of his team-mates bring it to the media?

There is a rule against slashing in hockey, doesn't that make it a part of the game?

If you and I are talking about te same incident it wasn't slashing it was clubbing! And didn't the player lose a eye?

Clubbing/spearing/slashing/boarding, whatever, generally the intent is usually the same with all those actions.

Same as the intent with the dude trying to hit Richie with his helmet.

Same as the intent of some football players launching with the crown of their helmet.

I think you can watch the incident and clearly see it was beyond the scope of the game. Same with the helmet swing.

So if its clearly beyond the scope of the game, thats the line? Chara should have been arrested for this in your opinion?

I agree with Ireland.

Then again, it seems Ireland is a man.
You tell your kid to stand up and punch a bully, you don't tell the agent of a player that the player should "punch" the bully. Shows complete lack of awareness from Ireland. Even worse the fact that he didn't confront Cog over it or just let him know to tone it down is terrible.
