Miami Dolphins unsigned top draft pick Ryan Tannehill is not in camp, but he has reported across the state to the IMG Performance Institute that trained Cam Newton and Christian Ponder during last year's labor lockout, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen on Friday.

Tannehill arrived in Bradenton, Fla., on Thursday night and began training Friday with former NFL quarterback Chris Weinke, who is the director of football operations at the IMG Madden Football Academy located on site at the 400-acre performance facility.
Tannehill also has a full staff of strength and conditioning coaches, a performance coach and a certified athletics trainer at his disposal.

Weinke will work with the former Texas A&M quarterback, who has his Dolphins playbook, twice daily on the field and in the classroom, sources confirmed to Mortensen.

Good that he is putting some time in to get better. Now hopefully he can sign on the dotted line.

Get him signed for Pete's sake!!!! WTF is going on....

It shows me its not him, its his agent.

He wants to be there, dumbass agent slowing process

Will he be doing this after he signs???

Im glad he's there training but I hope his stay is short lived. Get his ass in camp.

Ireland playing games has screwed even this up. Take a QB in Rd 1 and try and put special wording in his contract to screw him. You either want the guy or you dont. You drafted him don't try to add special language in a deal that you know you can't get through

SCREW IRELAND! (the person not the country)

Gotta love how it is always the player, coach, or agents fault. Let's be real here who cares if you guarantee every dime of his contract! With the new rookie scale it isn't even what we wasted on Jake Grove.

IMO his agent has little choice. When all the 1st round picks around the player the agent represents doesn't have offset language in their contracts and the agent can't get his client a contract without it then the agent might as well kiss future 1st round clients goodbye.

The only dumbass imo is a GM who once again appears to miss the big picture.

i wonder how many snaps he is getting there compared to what he would have with the fins, i know it will be better at camp but might be a nice jump start for a rookie being he don't have to live by NFL rules there

How is that good news?

Doesn't that imply that he is getting ready to have a protracted holdout?

He obviously didn't blow anyone away while he was here or they wouldn't be so adamant about adding that in the contract.

It IS the agents job to make sure Tannehil does NOT sign a contract like that, especially if he is the ONLY first round pick with that language in the contract and a sterling record off the field.

i dont see this as that bad of a thing. Look the guy is not playing this year unless both QBs get hurt or we r 2-11 at the end of the year. Here he is doing nothing but 3 rd team reps. He has the playbook there and is running two a days. Yeah its not here with the team and it might not be against NFL competition but at least hes not sitting on his butt eating poop waiting for something to happen. Hes trying to be better. I would like for him to sign and be here but if hes not then we cant do anything about it and we should be happy hes doing something. And it might not all be irelands fault. Does he need to get it done yes but i dont see it as that bad of a thing that hes trying to protect the club if tannenhill doesnt work out.

heard it reported and like many thought it was a good idea… watched all his ESPN Top 25 games… his feet need a lot of work… he'll get that with Weinke

I blame Jeff the EGO. This guy wants to be a smart ass because he screwed up all ready twice on Pat White and Chad Henne so now he wants to CYA himself if Tanny does not work out and becomes another Chad Henne / Pat White Failure. This is all Jeff Ireland clinging to his job. Oh how I miss the Rick Spielman era.
