NEW YORK -- West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez, who called labeled reports that he had agreed to leave for Alabama last weekend as "rumors," is meeting with Alabama officials here, according to several published and broadcast reports

How can that possibly be when it was reported here 1000 times that Saban was meeting with them? Could it be that it was all just a made up unsubstantiated rumor?????. I will not believe it!:sidelol: :sidelol:

Rodriguez is meeting with Bama officials and will get an offer.
Saban, as of now, is not.

Alabama targeted Spurrier and Rodriguez from the beginning.
At least 3 players (2 currently on the team and one alum) feel it's gonna be Rodriguez, unless RR has a change of heart.

Rodriguez would be a fool not to take the job. He's made WVU a very good program, BUT you will never be able to bring in a lot of top recruits to WVU. Atleast at Bama, you have a shot at getting top recruits consistently.

He has two of the best players in the america, Pat White and Steve Slaton and there only sophomores...

Plus oliver lucks son who plays high school football in texas wants to come to WVU next year...

He should definitely take it. Big step up.

a step up?

Money wise, not coaching wise
Your honestly gonna try and tell me that WVU is in anyway as prestigous of a job as Alabama? Get real. Its a step up in every way. School, tradition, conference, money, reputation, etc.... And you have the nerve to call Florida fans homers? Wow

As long as they give him more time than they did Shula, he'll do pretty well there I think.

Damn it, I was hoping that the Hurricanes would interview him for the head coaching job, he would be a great coach for the U.

I think he should stay at WVU, regardless of how attractive the Alabama job is. WVU are a good school -- they have two heisman candidates next season, they'll have a much better recruiting class than in past years, and they could potentially be ranked in the top 5 in preseason polls. They'll have a shot at the Nat'l Championship next year. Alabama will have a shot at cracking the top 25....but probably won't.

Good point. Alabama is a project at this point. It would be a challenge for sure but overall I still think its definitely a better job.

Why on earth would he leave such a powerhouse conference and a team that was griping about deserving Natl. title attention?

Would make absolutely zero sense..... unless.....

I think the Hurricanes job is more attractive than the Mountaineer job, I mean how many National Championships does West Virginia have?

thank you, thats what i was getting ready to explain. Why would you leave a team that has such high hopes and national championship asparations in the near future rather than a team that you basically have to rebuild from scratch
