“I’m disappointed, but there are still facts that have to be gathered,” Sparano said.

I am sure the Big Tuna isnt happy neither, I say we still keep him though. We really dont know all the facts.

why should Sparano be dissapointed. Starks was only being profiled because he is black at least thats what his lawyer claims.

if i had done what randy did my father would be disappointed in me...the big difference is i would be in jail since i do not play for an NFL franchise and i have no race card to play...

What was more intresting in this video has how highly he spoke on Ronnie. Like 3 minutes into the video he goes bonkers for him. He even said that he should be a star player next year. Could this mean that Ronnie is getting his contract soon????????

Would love for some you guys to be black for just a year... But what Sprano is saying is exactly right from a coach who expects his players to be model citizens..

You know what I listened to the quote and it's the biggest non-quote ever. I can't believe someone even started a thread about it. He was specifically asked if he was disappointed about the Randy Starks situation and he went on to hedge for like 90 seconds about how there are new facts coming through every day and how he doesn't want to make any judgments and how he's not disappointed in anything the player did necessarily because there are still all kinds of things to be learned, blah blah blah. He basically said, I'm just disappointed because any time any player ends up in the news or in the newspapers in some negative way like this he's just disappointed and that's not to say that Randy Starks did anything wrong, blah blah blah.

It was the most hedged answer ever. And yet to some people I guess it's "news".

What does the color of Starks skin have to do with him being stopped?

I was responding to the poster who was using Starks Lawyers remarks against him.....but at the same time, I live in a state where the state cops were sued and they lost a case involving DWB... they were profiliing black drivers and stopping them just because they were black..so yea it does happen..

I know it happens. I know there are racist cops who target citizens because of their race. I also know that not every cop is a racist and there are good cops. Starks was pulled over for reasons other than the color of his skin.

I dont think that all black people put fictitious tags on their cars like Starks did.

I dont believe that all black people would cram as many people into whatever vehicle they were driving like Starks did.

I dont believe that all black people allow passengers to ride on the drivers lap or dash of their vehicles like Starks did.

I dont believe all black people would ignore a cop when he says to stop like Starks did.

I dont believe all black people will veer into police officers like Starks did.

If I were a cop I would have ticketted or arrested Starks for these same things just as I would have any white person that went out of their way to draw attention to themselves breaking the law like Starks did.

Believe me I know more about such things then most on this board. My sister is black, all my cousins are black and my ex wife along with my kids are black or multiracial if you prefer. I have been pulled over many a time because I was in a black neighborhood(white people only come in the hood to buy drugs in most cops minds that I have met)or because I was riding with one of my black friends. I have had a police officer refuse to file a report of a stolen car because he thought I gave it out for drugs(even though I have never used a drug in my life, dont even really drink).
I have also been attacked by three white guys because I had a black girlfriend. Being white also makes you privey to racial attitudes from your fellow whites that do not realize that all white people are not racist.

So I am not just some naive person but I still dont buy the racism claim from his lawyer. It seems that Starks was asking to be pulled over.

This is brought out in almost any case where a black man is arrested.
