“I spent a lot of time looking at myself in the mirror, knowing that I need to make the change. Obviously, three-quarters of my staff on offense is new [headed by new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll]. That’s something that I felt we had to do. I feel like Brian’s style is more aggressive … [But] it started with me with big plays and how hard we had to work to advance the ball down field in the past. That’s where I had to look at myself and say, ‘I’m the CEO of the football part of it. If I see it broke, I have to fix it and it has to start with me.’ We couldn’t crawl down the field anymore.”

Nice to see Sparano take some responsibility and man up.

Would have been nice if he realized this 3 years ago but better late than never I suppose.

that might be the best move of the year

That was a nice article. Very honest from Tony. Thats all we Dolphins fan want is the honest truth, we arent dumb. When he defended Henning last year, he lost a good bit of his supporters. You cant have opposing defenses saying they KNEW what was coming, and then have the head man defend that.

I will be the first to admit, I dont like Henne and to a lesser degree Tony...but this is a step in the right direction. Well done Tony

A real coach can man up and take responsibilibty. I think this gives some credibilbity to Sparano after losign some in the offseason with the fan base. he realizes a mistake and is trying to fix it. If it doesnt work out well so be it, but atleast he is trying to adapt.

Only thing that worries me is we have heard this song and dance before.

It doesn't matter how good your running game is or how good your defense is if you can't score 24 points a game.
The elite teams have players that can score on 1 play, plus put up a couple of TD's driving the ball..
You can drive the ball 500 yards on the ground and still lose...if you cant score TD's.
Since we are still slightly deficient in play makers(much better than last year), you have to offset that with a more aggressive style.
Sparano is finally getting it. Better late than never.
The further Parcells influence gets away from this franchise...the better.

.

The Jets didn't score 24 points a game last season, they seemed to do alright.

To be fair, we went 11-5 and won the division 3 years ago, cant really fault the guy for trying the year after that... I still agree it might be a year late, still... like you said, better late than never I guess.
