... he ends up winning the QB competition, he said in an interview on Kim Bokamper's CBS Special with Jeff Darlington. Darlington added that at this point the coaches are constantly in McCown's and Beck's ears, trying to motivate them to step it up or else the rookie's gonna beat them out.
Lots of regurgitated stuff including bits of Tuna's HBO interview on this 1/2 hr special, but Kim and Jeff agreed that the most impressive players on the practice field so far as Ricky and Ronnie (who with each practice seems to be making smoother cuts). Ronnie says he's looking forward to lots of weight being placed on his shoulders.
Darlington sez Coach's old school and the players definitely respect him. Tony says they're intent on modifying their system to fit the players, not vice versa, but either way they will strive be a disciplined team not giving points away on errors and penalities and the team will "dictate pace" and attack. Nice mindset if they can accomplish it.
Back to the QBs, McCown says this team's system is set up to bring the best out in him; Sparano says he's happy with Beck's progress, that he's really only a 1year player and that he's "coming along fine".. and Henne says that both Josh and John have been helpful and supportive although they're competing. Darlington says that Henne is looking the best. Kim and Jeff agree that WRs not making separation are making the QBs look bad and causing a lot of check-downs which sometimes make them, Beck in particular, press and force the ball downfield.
Kim and Darlington feel that Thomas has a good chance to make the starting lineup.
The Tuna is a looming presence on everyone's mind. Sparano sez he's grateful he can go to BP to discuss rookie coach issues like time management, and that it's fine to disagree with him, since BP doesn't really like "yes men." Satelle laughingly calls Bill "The Power Man" and confided that players really don't want to do anything to displease him. Davis calls him the "eye in the sky", and Channing says that at first he was a bit scared but on a day to day basis, BP's a funny guy, jokes around and will be walking by and pull his pants down.
Kim and Jeff are concerned about Jason Allen and agree he has to step it up this year or be considered a bust, especially for what the team's paying him.. neither have been impressed so far.
Regurgitated blurb on JT. Darlington thinks that if he plays more than 2 years, he might regret leaving since Miami is on a similar track.
Sorry for the disjointed recap.. typing this as it came to mind. </div>
