I thought this was pretty funny myself. In Sparano's day after press briefing on Aquavision, I noticed some guy asked a question, and Tony responded with something like 'well Armando, I think that...' I thought it was interesting. If you're interested in hearing it, it's right around the 13 minute mark on the day after press briefing on Aquavision.

sparano seems good with the media like he gets along with them and knows them well.

I would find it odd if he DIDN'T know the beat writers/local reporters names.

My question is why does he always wear his sunglasses in doors during interviews? I assume they are prescription.

He has interacted with those guy 4 or 5 times a week for the last two years... I don't find it too surprising that he knows their first names.

I don't know, but he always wheres that same Dolphins shirt for warm games, and the same hat, with the same sunglasses. I don't know if all coaches are like that. I know Belichick is, but I don't know of any others.

Well, I was shocked because I've never heard any NFL coach refer to a media member during the press conference by name.

I've watched Sparano's pressers nearly every single day, and he refers to the media guys by first name constantly. Armando, Omar, Jeff regularly get their names said. I've also become familiar enough with each of those guys' voices because of this to the point where I know who's asking the question. Sad but true.

Anyone know how many guys are normally in the room? I think it is only 4 or 5 on a usual basis, but I'm not sure.

I think he pretty much knows each one and what kind of questions they usually ask.

Well, I don't watch them all that often. Maybe once or twice a week for me. Maybe I just don't pay attention as well as you do.:chuckle:

Eh. Sparano doesn't seem like the type to get caught up in what team writers and really sports reporters at all. I could be wrong though.

Here almost 2 seasons now, believe me he knows who all these people are...It's always smart to keep touch with the pulse of the Fans and Media.
I don't think he changes what he does due to that, but he knows what's going on for sure. :callme:
