In his blog, Armando Salguero got something out of Tony Sparano I think alot of you may find interesting. Heres an excerpt:

"Sparano said he still isn't certain whether the team will run a 3-4 or 4-3, although its obvious they want to run a 3-4."

They obvioulsy know they dont have the personnel right now. Heres the rest of the article.

with the Players we have picked up i think we will be playing the 3-4

One would assume, but this comment peaked my curisoity because it was widely assumed that the 3-4 was a forgone conclusion.

Why you would bring in 15 LB's and then say you're "not certain" is beyond me.

Ya, i think we will most definitely be playing a 3-4 next season unless we have some unforseen injuries that would force our personal to be better fitted for a 4-3. The players we ultimately get in the draft will most likely play a huge part in this decision as well.

Agreed, I think this will be a 'defense heavy' draft for sure.

I'm wondering if they are toying with the idea of running some type of hybrid defense similar to what NS ran and this is why they haven't decided yet on a particular defense.

3-4 not doubt. the new bosses are reluctant to give out too much info

All the LB's they signed are ST players IMO. I wouldn't read too much into that fact. I hope we run a 4-3 myself. I want a D like the Giants and Bills disiple, Tom Coughlin ran in the SB.

We still have ALOT of guys capable of running the 4-3 . . . hell IMO our personnel currently is STILL better suited for the 4-3 . . . but it obvious that we want to run the 3-4 . . . whether we have the guys is up in the air. I know by getting rid of Zach, the Pace attemt and with Ferguson and Starx . . . that all smells of 3-4.

Ive always been more of a 4-3 fan as well. ESPN pointed out a few years ago that a 3-4 defense had only won the Super Bowl once. (I think Pitt was a 3-4 when they won it)

LOL the Patriots have been running a 3-4 since their first Super Bowl.

They have had that Seymour, Warren, Wilfork front 3 for a while now.

Yeah, I personnally don't think a 3-4 can defend the spread offenses. LB's against Wr's isn't a very good strong point IMO. Especially since Bill likes really big LB's. This is Sparano's rep on the line and I hope he follows Coughlins lead and sticks to what works teh best. In all honesty Pitt would have lost that game had the officiating been better IMO.

They also cheated since their 1st SB and have every since. Also most of their playoff games is shootouts.

Then only (1) 3-4 Team other than Pitt has won an SB. See how I covered myself there :d-day:
