(On Patrick Turner's progression and what is involved in the decision whether or not to activate him each week) - "What I see on the practice field sometimes. Pat is getting better, but it also has a lot to do with some of the other players right now, jobs that they do and how they're doing in the game. Davone Bess right now is second in the National Football League to the guy in New York, Steve Smith I believe his name is, in third down receptions. [Greg] Camarillo is ten of ten right now, he's had ten balls thrown at him, he's converted ten of them, he's about eight on that list right now. We think they don't make plays, but those guys are making plays. It's one of the reasons why were second in the league by [just] this much on third down conversions. Teddy's [Ginn] a return guy for us that's been getting better and better at it, again, I thought he had a good game the other day returning the football, and is also a receiver that can make a big play for us. [Brian] Hartline has been productive out there in a lot of phases. Now what you don't see is that Hartline's in there for about eight to ten plays on special teams, and he's been productive there too. We're not going to get five of them [wide outs] to the game at this second, I don't feel like that's a good deal with where we are at this point and time. You never know, that could change. Somebody's got to stay back, and at this point it's been Pat, but I do want to get Pat Turner involved, so it goes back to the [other] thing - I don't want to have questions at the end of the year. I want to get him involved, he's got to keep working in practice like he is, and at some point his number is going to get called."

I don't care how good Bess and Camarillo are on 3rd down conversions, I want a consistant receiver, and it's obvious the only way of finding out if we have this or not is by giving Turner the opportunity everyone else has already been given.

His point was where does he fit? Hartline has an impact on special teams, Ginn is also a returner, Bess and Cam are awesome on 3rd down and you can't honestly undervalue that. He also stated they aren't willing to carry 5 receivers right now so Turner will have to wait.

I understand that, but if WR is as big of a problem as it is right now you need to make some sort of an adjustment, maybe carry one less LB, or one less HB, or S, OL, DL, Turner is only one player, you only need to take one player out of the game to add a player like Turner who could potentially make an impact

If the Coaches thought he would make a big impact he would already be on the game day roster.

They carry minimal Olineman, there are no extra Dlineman to sit, all back- up Lb'ers, S's, CB's play special teams. It's not as easy as you think and more importantly I believe the staff thinks Bess and Ginn will get over the drops because they have no history of drops.

Sparano is just saying in a nice way that Patrick Turner is not as good as the other WRs, IMO.

I really believe Bess and Ginn will get over there slump too, but as of right now I don't think even the coaching staff will disagree with me, the passing game is below average, and we gotta either step up or start making changes

We don't see these guys everyday in practice and even if we did it's not like any of us are better at evaluating talent then the staff is. I know some of the people in here think they are, but being delusional doesn't equate into being a football scout.

If Sparano doesn't think he's ready for Sundays then I trust there is a reason. Either that or they know if he hits the field and sucks the fan base will get pretty down (just kidding)

Sigh. Don't even know where to begin with my discouragement ridden post. Oh well. I guess Turner was what Crowder would call an "OTA champ." Here's to a miracle occurring when he does see his time.

what I'm hoping is that the coaching staff believes Turner is the real deal, and they don't want to play him until they truly believe he is ready, because throwing him in too early could cause a loss of confidence, he could begin to slack on technique, shortening his routes, or just running them incorrectly to make them easier, etc. I really hope this is the case, or else we'll have to continue to look for our guy.

You think that with Miami being 3-5 and fighting for our playoff lives that Tony Sparano has been hiding his "Secret Weapon" Patrick Turner?

Sounded to me that Turner's downfall is he is not solid on special teams. That was a knock on him leading up to the draft. I didn't hear a vote of confidence for Ginn as a WR, just as a kick returner. Ginn's saving grace may be Cobb's injury.

If we lose to the Bucs, I don't give a **** what we do on 3rd down, or who can make 1 tackle a game on special teams. Put Turner in.

Well, that doesn't say much about Turner.. who knows.

We need a 1 & 2 WR... our guys are 3 & 4's... Cam or Hartline have potential at the 2, but our 1 would have to be a stud!

Turner is not the best special teams guy. It seems like that was a big part of Wilford's and Hagan's problems as well.
