We all know by now that Assistant head coach/Secondary coach Todd Bowles is interviewing around the league for the head coaching jobs. Currently it has been reported that he will meet with the Rams, Lions and Broncos. I do think it is a long shot that he lands a head coaching job this offseason, but I do think he will eventually get one.

Lets say for a minute that the Lions hire Bowles in the coming weeks. Would you consider Bowles an extension of the Bill Parcells coaching tree, or would this be the first branch of the Tony Sparano coaching tree?

Sparano had one year as a coach. Bowles is a extension of Parcells as of now. In a couple years, its a different story.

I would also say that he belongs to the Parcells' coaching tree.. Sparano has not really a big influence on the style of coaching from his assistans imo.. In a few years the coaches will belong to his coaching tree.. Especially the young coaches will be influenced in a couple of years when they are considered for higher jobs in this league..

I would not be surprised to see him in Detroit. The Lions GM and Bowles were team mates at Washington and he has Parcells backing. This will be a huge loss for the team but I hope he gets the chance. I think he'll be a good coach.

wouldn't it be both:

parcells(bark)-->sporano(branch)-->bowles

Parcells. The next coaches that come in under Sparano still technicly are from Parcells, but, the immiediate sire is Sparano.
