"We brought the guy here to be a quarterback" This was in reference to his presser today when the media asked him did or would he consider moving Pat White to receiver (with a smirk)..Basically Sparano said it came out of left field..He said no..his work with Pat White is not done at quarterback..

So there you have it folks despite what you think of Pat White...Sparono likes him and he sees him as a QB..not a running back and not a wide receiver.. Its insane to think this guy can be anything but a QB. Case close your opinions on the guy only goes as far as finheaven takes you...Great to see sparano thinks not like some here.

Who gives a **** what all the Pat White haters say here. Henne has almost been on our team 2 years and he is far from proven. QBs, on most occasions, take time to develop.

He will be a decent backup. Coaches like mobile backups, when they aren't quite in sync with the offense because of less preparation time they can create a little more when things don't go as smooth. Lets face it if he doesn't make it as a QB his career won't last long. He is not big enough for RB, and well you never really know at WR. Guys who have played WR their whole life at the postition usually aren't succesful in the NFL. On the other hand what do you expect Sparono to say. "Yeah we drafted him, told him, and he's been practicing at QB all year, but we have decided to slot him in to replace Ronnie until he is back..."

This is good to hear.. Anyone with any football knowledge would understand that. He is a QB, let it be. He obviously has skill at the position and is far from the build of a dominate reciever, I swear half of the people on these boards now-a-days are either sneaking on the computer when their parents aren't looking, or just crazy..

Of course Sparano says this. Not much of a surprise. It will be interesting to see if Pennington winds up re-signing to back up Henne, who the odd man out will be. White or Thigpen. Thigpen has actually proved he can play while White would be a waste of a 2nd rounder.

Pennington will not return. He got a 2 year deal for a reason, and I doubt they change their plans now. Henne looks very promising and Pat White seems to have the players on his side. We just haven't seen enough of White to really know anything, so far they have been pretty conservative with his pass attempts to say the least.

Don't count Pennington out. On game day he is watching and scouting the next opponent. On Monday he is going through it with Henne. He is more valuable as a back up QB then White.

Don't insinuate the players don't love Pennington because you are dead wrong.

.. and similarly, your unrelenting almost solitary, subjectively harsh criticisms of Henne obviously are not shared by the same Sparano you reference and resonate about as loudly here on FH.. or more importantly in the FO as the championing of Teddy G as our franchise #1 receiver.

So it's all relative, isn't it?

Oh, the gospel according to St Tony re Chad Henne after the NE game:

"I thought for the most part yesterday Chad handled the pressure pretty well. I think he's getting better and better at seeing it," said Sparano, who brought that to Henne's attention the previous game against the New York Jets when Henne was sacked five times and admittedly held onto the ball too long on a few occasions. "I thought yesterday his pocket presence was very good. If you want to talk about where he improved from last week to this week, his pocket presence was much better this week. His anticipation was better and the ball was getting out pretty fast yesterday. He didn't hold the ball and he didn't take sacks. We got sacked a couple of times but he threw the ball one time so I thought he did a good job during the course of the game."

TS is so impressed with him as a QB he doesn't let him throw while in the game! That's what I call confidence in someone!!!

Why anyone calls him a QB is beyond me, I guess R.Brown is also another QB we have since he's actually thrown more then PW in games and gets the ball behind the center.

What else is he going to say? If he says anything else it would be basically saying Pat White had been a bad pick and would be cut at end of season. And how do you know what Sparano actually sees him as? Just because he tells the media one thing doesn't mean he may or may not envision him playing another position.

And even now I do not see White as a viable QB option. So until he shows he can complete passes with regularity the guy may either be playing other positions or cut. Because nobody wants a QB that can't throw!!!

Hmmm, reason and logic.

While the OP has already concluded himself, Henne not 'having it'. He then puts this little blurb out for his case. I see Vaark already broke out the Henne /Sparano quote. Only thing left to say to OP, Henne is the starter and this CS have seen something in Henne that those here on FH haven't seen. Enough said...Case Closed.

Oh, the gospel according to St Tony re Chad Henne after the NE game:

I never stated I thought Pat white should or could be the future for us. I just like what the guy brings to the table as a QB...But people insist on hateing on just that simply thing. People get angry when they hear someone say something positive about Pat White. I admit, I am very critical about Henne and its not because I think white can come in and do a better job. Henne is the starter, thats why im critical of him. If White was, and i saw things I didnt like I should be able to state that here without people trying to de rep or say crap like I dunno what im talking about... I know he can pass even though they havent given him much oppertunity..One thing I dont like about white and I just think its the play is that sweep to the left they always run with him.. They need to toss that.

White will be put to the test. If he fails so be, so be it. With Ronnie out it is the correct decision for management. When it comes... jump on or off the bandwagon. Remember, Sparano isn't calling the shots.

Which is why they are working him in slowly and getting him comfortable with him being in there on snaps even if its a hand off to ricky or ronnie...Im fine with that...because there will come a time where he will break out for another big run or complete a big passing play..
